Haven't posted much in awhile, but hopefully I can get some good responses. I'm getting a PSP Go this fall and I want to find out from you guys what games are essentials for the system. Here's a list of games I'm considering:

  • Persona
  • Daxter
  • Rock Band Unplugged
  • Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
  • Final Fantasy I
  • Final Fantasy II
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
And there are/will be others. Which of these games should I avoid? Which games did I miss? Let me know!

You remember that the PSP Go doesn't have a UMD drive right?

I liked having that genesis collection, because Sonic on the small screen was cool...

Well, they did promise that most of the catalog would be on the Store by the time the Go comes out, so I'm going to trust them on that. Haha.

Looks like a good list, as long as you don't mind paying way too much for the FF 1&2 ports. I would also suggest Jeanne D'Arc any day over FFT but that's your decision. Daxter is an amazing game that everyone should have. Jak and Daxter also looks good. Hopefully all of these games will be on the PSN for you to download though ;-)

There are a lot of games that I would say you missed but aren't really essential. I wouldn't really recommend that anyone would own a PSP without at least a few of these though:

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (or Dark Mirror)
Crimson Gem Saga
Gurumin
WipEout Pulse
Midnight Club: LA Remix
Patapon 2
Loco Roco 2
Crush
Killzone Liberation (very good challenge)
Ace Combat X

Tried to include varied genres in there. Didn't want to make it longer than 10. With any luck they'll all be up there on the store in October.

I'm under the probably fantastical assumption that one day there will just be, like, 30 more games. Haha.

Every PSP deserves a copy of Lumines, and Sony would be crazy not to put that up on PSN. Also, I'd recommend Wipeout Pure if you have any interest in racing games, and it's already up on PSN.

God of War: Chains of Olympus isn't on that list? Best looking game on the system by far - even the upcoming games don't beat it visually. Plus it's eveyr bit as good as the PS2 God of War's (mainly 'coes it's exactly the same as them)

Me and My Katamari and Lumines are required, and I highly recommend picking up Valkyrie Profile and Parappa the Rapper. Dissidia is worth looking forward to.

Don't go for WipEout Pure just because it's on the PSN and cheaper, Pulse is a noticeable upgrade in every way (besides the fact that Pulse has paid DLC), if you decide to go for one of them.

Well, ill just tell you from personal experience, I dont know how they are going to make the PSP version worthwhile without the touch screen. it causes a plethora of problems when you consider how the game was designed. If you want to get a PSP gta, make it liberty city stories. I can't see how Chinatowns will work properly

Vice City Stories is better in every way and (currently) 5 bucks cheaper too.

Yeah, if you only choose one, Pulse is a slicker package. However, I'd say play both in order. They're excellent games and have provided a revitalizing reboot for a very deserving series.

Keep an eye on PSN for any retro-game collections, I think Capcom's may be launched online.
Other than that, I don't  care for any "essentials" like GoW or FF.

Little Big Planet, Motorstorm Artic Edge and Resident Evil Portable are promising games so watch those too.
