Giant Bomb achievement sync - How often?

Seems like it takes a while for my achievements to sync from steam to GB.

What is the sync frequency, as in the time of day and syncs/day?

I think they use a background process to iterate over all users who have achievement syncing on (so there is no time of day they all get done, where you are in the list of users determines when it updates) and it has been mentioned how often it triggers but I can't remember off the top of my head (and it may get changed now and then), maybe twice a day?

If you'd like your achievements to sync right away, you can always go to your profile >>> achievements >>> "Manage Your Accounts" and click refresh next to whatever service's achievements you'd like to come up on your profile immediately.

@Oniros: There is one, but it doesn't really matter since Giant Bomb will stop tracking achievements in a month or so.

There is a reason you can't and there's a reason it won't matter...

You can't see it because it's a member only feature.

It won't matter because Achievement/Trophy/Steam/WoW tracking is not going to be in the new site (slated for a January launch - unless things go awry) and won't have it until they don't need to dedicate someone practically full time to fix it every time the back end changes on the MS/Sony side (which it seems to do far more often than you'd think).

And it will likely be even worse when Microsoft and Sony start changing infrastructure for their next consoles.

@tvippy: no they haven't and frankly I don't think it's ever coming back.

I almost didn't notice when it went away. The quests went as well, as you may have noticed. Did they ever say why these features were taken down from the site?

Aw, they had a trophy sync? I hate being a new user. Well, semi-new at least.

@tvippy: Dave specifically cited that the way the achivement and trophy API stuff works it makes it really hard to implement it like they wanted too.

If Microsoft and Sony change their achievement and trophy APIs for the easier when their new consoles launch, it may come back.

yeah they did on one of the old Radio Dave's I think.

Quests went because they didn't succeed in their intended goal (ad Monies)

Achievements went for three reasons

1. Sony and Microsoft weren't cooperative about sharing the data making it difficult to keep updated and it kept breaking
2. The upcoming gen of consoles may change how Sony an Microsoft do achievements, so ti didn't amke sense to spend time on something that may not work in 9-10 months anyway
3. Achievements API is tough to code in the new site anyway

Number 1. and 3. are sensible reasons that I too thought of at the time. Number 2. however, I didn't even think of and makes a lot of sense.

It hardly ever worked right for me, so i wasn't too sad to see it go. There's better dedicated services live Raptr for this kind of thing anyways.

Thing is, raptr's PS3 tracking broke recently too. Because fucking dumb Sony changed some on their end.

I don't freaking get why the platform holders don't cooperate with sites like these at all, because its in their best interest... fucking idiots, frustrates me to heck.

Is there a way to see how rear your Microsoft Xbox achivements are?
