Giant Bomb Video Podcast
I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of regularly scheduled live show with the GB crew (maybe like the old-school "On The Spot").
" They podcast naked, so that wouldn't go over very well with the site demographic. "Yes, it would.

Yeah I agree, an 'On the Spot' style show would be great. Even though they already do Quick Looks, which is basically an On the Spot show in smaller chunks. However I think they could run both if they saved up the bigger games like Bad Company 2 or Dragon Age: Origins for the 'On the Spot' style show and the Quick Look games could be lesser known stuff.
I like the audio format, it makes it easy to listen to while doing other things, such as playing video games. Quick looks and other video content more than satisfy any other video needs I have.
If you're looking to have the existing videos show up in your podcast manager, take a look at this: http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/general-discussion/30/giantbomb-itunesipodiphone-compatible-video-feed-release/273960/?
I listen to G4's Feedback with Adam Sessler and their video podcast because they don't have a timely audio-only podcast. The same is true for Gametrailer's Invisible Walls. I turn the shows on in my browser, but I don't actually watch them. There is really nothing your average video podcast will do that can't be done with audio only. Now, the former 1UP Show and current Co-Op of Revision3 are really regular TV shows that are distributed via the internet. I don't know if Giant Bomb wants to get into that type of production expense. I guess they could do something similar to their old "On the Spot" talk show, but that still takes a lot of work and time. They'd need to hire a video production team just for that, plus build a set, book guests, build a control room, etc... I think, for right now, they are happy with things as they are. Maybe when Giant Bomb gets super big and super rich they'll do something like a TV show again.
Whats the point of being able to see them? It really doesn't add much to a discussion.
Maybe the energy drink tests would benefit a bit.
well, the mega64 podcast is proof that it can improve a podcast tenfold. Sometimes it doesn't make a difference as they're just sitting there, however sometimes they're all loaded up on beer or energy drinks and make internet history. It's definitely worth it just for the times it DOES make a difference.
it would be great
Might happen one day, but no need right now. If they did a video podcast say on the couch then it would be interesting but if they at to show off games then you wouldn't get any quick looks and that sort of sucks.
Waste of time, stupid idea. The Bombcast is great as it is. I would rather they spent time producing actual video content like Quick Looks, reviews, other features, Endurance Run, whatever, than a weekly show with not a whole lot in it. The problem with weekly video podcasts is that I would rather just listen to the goddamn show. Just like Bonus Round: I would love to listen to that as a podcast. As a video show, there's nothing there. They occasionally show clips of games, and then they cut back to people sitting around. I'm not going to sit down and watch that every week.
Video podcasts are stupid.
" I'm cool with pure audio. I listen to the bombcast on an ipod shuffle anyway "Those things are awful. How do you deal with changing songs?
Anyway, a video podcast might be a fun idea, but I fail to see what makes it a "must-have" feature. Seeing the crew talk about games as opposed to just listening to them doesn't sound incredibly compelling.
" You'd really spend two and a half hours of your day watching four dudes sitting in a circle talking? What is the appeal of a video podcast? "
Barely any difference from the two and a half hours of my day I spend listening to the podcast at home. Just a negligible bonus.
I'm guessing most people don't sit and stare at their computer for two and a half hours while they listen to a podcast. Turning it into a video podcast would just make a huge file you'd have to download and I'm willing to wager $50 that the majority of people who listen to the podcast wouldn't spend more then 5 minutes actually watching it.
