Giant Bomb vs Gamespot

My favourite ever TNT's are the shows where the guys are competing amongst each other like in this weeks Mario party show.

I think the only way to top this is if there was a regular monthly challenge which pitted our brave Giant Bombadiers

against the Gamespot crew in a test of their gaming acumen. They could keep scores and even compete towards and annual title.

It would show some nice tongue in cheek rivalry between the two sites and also give members of both sites a look at each others teams.

That would be neat. I wouldn't say it's impossible.

I like this idea, however not really sure who they have over at GS as far as competition. I have seen everybody on GB play & have somewhat good gauge at where their strengths are. I havnt been to GS in about 3 yrs now and don't have a clue to who they have over there and what skill level.

My name isn't Lyfeforce Magoo and I approve of this idea. More Scrub Leagues. Many Much Scrub Leagues. All of the Scrub Leagues. JUST GIVE US MORE 70's GAMESHOW MICROPHONE.

This is a great idea. I do hope the staff sees it. What game shall they play, though? Not necessarily Mario Party. The maps in Battlefield are too big. Starcraft has too few players. Call of Duty... wouldn't be fun to watch. How about Halo Reach? Eh?

How about some fighting game?

• Mortal Kombat 2vs2 mode, or
• Street Fighter vs Tekken 4 players mode (sure, its chaotic, but that is the point).

Since those matches are rather short, I would prefer a best-of or a group tournament, possibly ending with the champion of GS vs the champion of GB as the finale.

Well, it doesn't have to be limited to one game. They could play that for half an hour, then Halo, then Starcraft, etc.

I like this idea, it seems they all get along so it would be a fun competition.

Personally, it would be interesting to not only see Giant Bomb compete with Gamespot but with other outlets as well. At a Homefront press event, a bunch of us fought for the prize of one of those parrot drones. It was rough going; I didn't win, but I came pretty close. Unfortunately, Giant Bomb didn't show up as planned due to the snow storm that hit NYC so I didn't get to battle any of them that day. But surprisingly, a lot of older journalists who hadn't used a gamepad in many years were doing pretty well for themselves.

I love seeing unlikely gamers battling it out. I find it more interesting, though, when it is people we already know.

@GooieGreen: LOL, let me think.. what is it that I hate about this idea? Oh, yeah: GameSpot. That site has been shit for years. You might think otherwise; that's fine but don't expect everyone to share your opinion. Personally, I don't want GameSpot to influence what Giant Bomb does in any way, and I don't want to see GameSpot's content and staff show up here regularly. If I wanted to check out GameSpot's content and staff, I'll go to GameSpot. This is the fucking' internet. Everything is just a couple of clicks away. People who like GameSpot should go to GameSpot. People who like Giant Bomb should go to Giant Bomb. Am I a stubborn asshole who hates change? Maybe.. but as I said this is just my opinion about this whole GS/GB collaboration, whatever it is..

This sounds interesting to me. The personalities of both sites interacting would probably calm people who are still enraged by recent events. After all, the people responsible for Jeff's exile are no longer affiliated with Gamespot.

For any of the guys rejecting this solely as it involves Gamespot staff. Could you not derive any pleasure from them getting their ass handed to them if team GB are victorious.

I just want to see another Quake 1 TNT. I figure on a 64-person deathmatch, this could totally happen between GS and GB. And it would be glorious.

I am not really a supporter of this idea.

This would be a lot of fun. Getting sick of the hostility towards Gamespot staff. It's not like they carry too many infectuous diseases and none of those people had anything to do with Jeff getting the sack. The commercially focused editoial style is also a corporate desicion, these people are probably just ecstatic to be able to write about games for a living in this economic climate.

They could call it the GiantSpot Cup or the GameBomb cup. They could play different genres of games, also I want to see more mortal kombat!!

I'd watch something like that, although besides Kevin V, I really have no idea who else is over at The spot anymore.
