@Nomin: Do you know what RP in RPG means? Mass Effect 2 is more of an RPG than Diablo 2. No, Mass Effect 1 is NOT better than ME2. It did a few things better than ME2 but as a whole ME2 is way better.

The whole "HURR DURR MASS EFFECT 2 WASN'T AN RPG!!!' argument is getting really old. So what if the game was streamlined, maybe a bit too much for some people, it was still an excellent game. Get your head out of y our ass and let people enjoy it.

Hm, perhaps going into Super Scribblenauts without having playing the first game really is the best way to get the most out of that game. I just started playing Lock's Quest, and I find it interesting how similar the interface is when you start the game. Are 5th Cell's other games like this?

Read the opening of this Wikipedia article and then tell me that Mass Effect 2 is not a role-playing game. Granted, citing a Wikipedia article to defend this isn't the strongest argument, but the definition therein isn't at all unreasonable. Mass Effect 2 involves you playing the role of a character. You level them up, you customize them to some degree, you make significant decisions when interacting with NPCs, and the outcome is largely dependent on those decisions. It is a role-playing game, even if it doesn't match up 100% with what you're used to experiencing in role-playing games.
People get way too over-protective about what are essentially just descriptors. Mass Effect 2 is a third-person role-playing game that is very combat-heavy. The end.

When it comes to RPG's though, there's always a bunch of people who cry and scream and claim that you have defiled the sanctity of the almighty RPG gods. Evolution and innovation are natural processes. People need to get over it, especially when the rest of the world unanimously embraces the new product and showers it with awards and endless praise. You just end up coming across as a relentlessly contrarian, pretentious douche, like Armond White. And let's be honest, I don't think any of us want to be compared to Armond White.

The rest of the world "unanimously" embraced Oblivion when it came out. That doesn't change the fact that it was a dumbed-down console game.
