Before anyone wrights in, I am not asking for anyone to stop swearing. I am asking what videos, TNT, Quicklook, Premium or other, have little or no swearing in it. I ask because, odd as it may sound, I listen to about 4 or 5 videos on loop while I am going to sleep. The constant sound helps me. But my Sister, who has a room next to me doesn't really like the swearing.

Dave and Drew tend to not swear much. And Ryan and Jeff swear a whole lot.

have you ever considered just listening to podcasts on loop with a mp3 player/your phone? sounds like it'd solve the problem.

Yeah nothing with Ryan Davis in them. That guy can't watch his foul fucking mouth for more than five fucking seconds. Fuck Ryan Davis!

Who doesn't like swearing? Honestly! I'll never understand such people.

And really, it's the swearing bothers her, but not the volume?

#7 Posted by Brodehouse (9952 posts) -

Dave will swear if you surprise him; Outcast.

I was going to say the same thing. Considering all of them worked years for a company that frowned upon profanity, I imagine there isn't a video that doesn't has at least a few words in it.

There was totally a time where Ryan or Jeff cursing was like, "(whispers) ohmygod, they just said the f-word. Can they do that?"

You did a pretty good job of not reading the thread at all.

Let me on up y'all on that:

Anyway, I'd think that the only real solution is to use headphones. Pretty much every video I can remember has a curse word in it. They're fond of saying them, it seems.

Giant Bomb community once again proves how helpful they are

Anyways, any of the like, serious videos they do. Like the Jar Time videos are good because Jeff is in serious mode most of the time.

Also I like falling asleep to podcasts and stuff too. MBMBaM is perfect for falling asleep to, they don't swear at all, they're very clean comedy

I am not aware of any, but your best bet ight be QL's about kid games? It's a site for adults and adults swear so I think you will be hard pressed to find them. As said numerous times already however, turn down the volume, wear head phones, or tell your sister to put in ear plugs if it bothers her sensitive ears to her a naught word from time to time.

Wireless headphones!

#20 Posted by FlarePhoenix (420 posts) -

If your sister is that sensitive, tell her to get some earplugs or something. Or just turn the volume down so she cannot hear it. It doesn't seem like anyone's paid much attention to what does and does not have swearing in it (I doubt it's something most of us think about when we're watching the videos/listening to the podcast).

Don't bank on it. There have been at least a couple of kiddie-centric, Kinect game type QLs recently where I found it pretty funny that the crew still pitched the video like it was aimed at rugged adults. I think there was even a kinect QL EX where the dev swore and then looked embarrassed, asking if he was allowed to do so.

However I have noticed that Vinny and Jeff don't swear all that much in the Persona 4 ER. It happens, but not often. That said, the sexual innuendo they pile on during that ER should really be far more offensive to people who get ruffled by that kind of thing, but I've found that people tend to be a little funny about what triggers their sense of indignation.

Yeah, it did seem like they avoided swearing in the Persona 4 Endurance Run, at least until a certain point.

Rogue Warrior obviously

But for serious though I think G-Force didn't have any other than "Bruce Jenner looking mother effer"

edit: one "God damn it" and one "dumbass" in G-Force

I'm going to need some backstory because this makes no sense.

A. headphones, duh.

B. Your sister is fine with you blasting videos in the middle of the night but gets offended by the cursing?

Do we listen to the same podcast? Because the MBMBaM I listen to has a website that sells sex toys as one of its sponsors every week and plenty of cursing.

On topic: There are no videos completely free of the swears, unless you want to watch like... the early episodes of How to Build a Bomb back when they were still used to the old "no swearing" mandate of Gamespot.

Yeah real great responses all around. I was about to say these things as well. The Jar Time videos generally don't have a lot of swearing in them. Well, maybe they have some but it's not the loud, funny swearing.

#29 Posted by matti00 (668 posts) -

If your sister's older than 14 tell her to act like a fucking adult and that God isn't real. If she has a problem with this, I don't know how she survives in the real world.

I use headphones sometimes, and its ok, it just greatly reduces the life of the headphones, due to laying on them every night.

My Sister is 24, and she doesn't like me blasting videos at night as it is, but she really doesn't like it when they swear.

#31 Posted by AngelN7 (2970 posts) -

Yeah... that's kinda odd not your sister disliking the swearing but listening the GB guys and that be the thing that helps you sleep... it's kinda creepy actually.

Fake your own death, touch her shoulder, Brad quit

#33 Posted by Barrock (3533 posts) -

24 is kinda old for someone to have such an issue with words. Is she like, super religious or something? Earbuds might be the best way to avoid the issue.

@ArbitraryWater: If there's cursing in MBMBaM I've never noticed it. The sex shop is an ad they do, "sex" and "dildo" aren't exactly curse words but I see what you mean

#41 Edited by EpicSteve (6487 posts) -

turn the volume down? You said she's in another room. It isn't like many videos have a ton of swearing anyway.

#42 Posted by Portis (1287 posts) -

Option A: Use headphones (best option)

Option B: Turn it down

I know you said you don't want to use headphones, but when you live with others you have to make sacrifices sometimes. If everyone is trying to sleep and you're playing videos loud enough for them to hear, you need to handle that. I somehow doubt that playing the videos at the same volume you are now, with less swearing is really going to change much.

#43 Posted by BNB82 (50 posts) -

Your sister probably has a bigger problem with hearing your shit instead of just the cursing. Find a way to control the volume, like headphones.

#44 Posted by DeadVillager (77 posts) -

I think the Art Academy QL is light to empty on the swears. Plus it's pretty laid back in general.

#45 Posted by bchampnd (108 posts) -

I'd say that you should just invest in some cheap, small earbuds. When I was in college and had roommates, I listened to my iPod as I fell asleep because I need some noise (I don't like silence) but recognized that it'd be a dick move to leave the TV on or run a playlist through my laptop speakers if other people prefer total quiet. I also liked the privacy of earbuds since I could then listen to whatever I wanted and not be concerned about whether anybody else liked it.

When it comes to the ideal earbuds for falling asleep, I recommend iPod earbuds (the old kind, I haven't seen the new ones that come with the iPhone 5 yet). They're nice and small and don't go very deep into your ear so you don't have to worry about them jamming into your skull if you roll over.

A few weeks ago they had a segment about how How I Met Your Mother is going to end with eating shit. even if they don't swear while doing it (they do) that's pretty R-rated.

As for the actual question if the point is for the noise just listen to something like a NPR or something along those lines. Just be careful with talkback radio, because the kind of people who call in talkback radio late at night (or at any time) tend to be charged on an issue and often not very quiet.
