Just bought an Elite from Wal Mart to replace my RROD day one that died. Brought it home, unpacked it, excited. Turned it on, fucking red ring of death.  COME ON!

Don't buy 360's from walmart. I bought my first one from there, brought it home, and soon realized it was a bricked used one that someone had snuck back onto the shelves. and then I got accused of doing that getting a replacement. And the replacement got a disc drive problem within a few month. #3 is rocking on strong, knock on wood.

I'm taking it back, getting my money back, and going to my local Best Buy.  They just got a shipment of what I know are brand new units.  Who knows how old this Elite actually is...

lol that sucks, i would check the manufacturing date. i kind of think someone did that so the person who bought the elite swaped them so the person who got it (your) would get it. i  have heard of people who do those types of things. bring it back get ur money back and buy the elite somewhere else.

You can't buy ANYTHING from Wal-Mart nowadays on good faith.  If it's in a box, open that sucker up and check it out before hitting the check out lane.
Just last week, my mom had to return some floor treatment kit, because someone had used it and refilled it with who-knows-what and returned it before.

The manufacturing date should be printed on the back of the console.
