Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood 62%
Bayonetta 38%

"uh, uh, uh, uh, uh" applies to both of these games but in totally different contexts.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (2010)

What the community has to say:

I don't know what else I can really say. I like me some Assassins Creed and this is more of that. Between the engaging, lengthy campaign and the multiplayer face and neck stabbing enthusiasts have plenty to be excited about.

Bayonetta (2009)

What the community has to say:

That's really what it comes down to with Bayonetta. The core gameplay is so tuned, so polished, and so vast, that its limits are very hard to come to terms with all at once. It's sublime, ridiculous, and wholly epic on an initial playthrough, but it won't let anyone say that his hasn't got the depth to match it.

Tossup, Brotherhood originated the best multiplayer of the generation by a long shot and Bayonetta is the best character action game ever made.

Both very enjoyable games for me.

Brotherhood - 85/100

Bayonetta - 80/100

Bayonetta has everything. It's truly a special game.

#6 Posted by Pr1mus (4097 posts) -

Never liked Platinum's brand of action and aesthetic.

Bayonetta is probably the best character action game ever made.

AC2:B is another AC game, even if it did have an incredible multiplayer (which got shit as soon as people started using eagle vision, ruined the whole thing) and one of the best AC single players.

It's still not Bayonetta.

This is pretty tough. I like both games quite a bit but I wouldn't say I'm passionate about either one. In the end, Bayonetta, for me, was more memorable so I got to go with that.

Bingo

Not my favorite AC game but it was pretty great. As for Bayonetta I have no interest in the god of war type games.

More like BayoNOTta!

#12 Posted by MooseyMcMan (11934 posts) -

Bayonetta is insane, and I love it, but I have to go with Brotherhood.

#13 Posted by ShadowConqueror (3224 posts) -

Never played Bayonetta, but Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the second best game in the franchise (2 being the best, despite not having multiplayer and looking dated now).

#14 Posted by AMyggen (4446 posts) -

Loved AC, but the combat in Bayonetta gets me every time. Bayonetta!

I'll go with this. Bayonetta is a great playing game, but by the end I found its constant barrage of insanity to be more than a little overwhelming.

Something has just occurred to me: are we voting for the best game of the console generation, or the most influential game? Nobody seems clear on that, so they're voting on entirely different standards. Remember, guys: HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT DOES NOT MEAN GOOD.

#17 Posted by Demoskinos (16184 posts) -

Everyone who voted for Ass-creed is awful. Bayonetta is one of the best action games of the last 10 years.

#18 Posted by TheManWithNoPlan (6263 posts) -

I absolutely loved Brotherhood. I still really need to play Bayonetta though.

Ass Creed

#20 Posted by Snail (8769 posts) -

The first Assassin's Creed is the best one. Still voted for Brotherhood. That franchise is one of my favorite ones ever.

#21 Edited by Demoskinos (16184 posts) -

@video_game_king: We're voting best as in favorite or most fun although you do have a point and I agree those two are entirely different lists.

#22 Posted by StarvingGamer (8988 posts) -

I am so sad that Bayonetta won't win this :'(

#23 Posted by HatKing (6407 posts) -

I feel like it's against the spirit of this to vote without playing both, but I'm sure most people don't give a shit, so... Brotherhood. Probably the best entry in one of the most prolific franchises of the generation.

IT HURTS ME INSIDE. THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL REALLY HURT.

Bayonetta is getting robbed. Brotherhood marks the decline of that series for me.

#26 Posted by AlexW00d (6703 posts) -

Brotherhood was the best Assassin's Creed game, and Bayonetta was the best Bayonetta.

#27 Edited by planetfunksquad (678 posts) -

WHAT? WHAT?? HOW IS BAYONETTA LOSING?

I DONT EVEN

#28 Edited by mrfluke (5654 posts) -

goddammit, this is a tough one,

but id go with brotherhood.

#29 Edited by Trilogy (2702 posts) -

I loved Bayonetta's combat, but the characters story really put me off. I actually like AC2 over brotherhood, but in this round brotherhood takes it for me,

#30 Posted by beard_of_zeus (1747 posts) -

Bayonetta is still my favorite Platinum game - batshit crazy in all the best ways, and excellent gameplay to boot. I don't often replay games, but the combat is so fun I had to go back through a second time. Sorry Ezio!

Also: In the last level of Bayonetta, you ride a motorcycle up the side of an active space rocket and punch God in the face!!!! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED MY FRIENDS???

#31 Edited by McGhee (6128 posts) -

Anyone not voting for Bayonetta deserves a good, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh, neck stabbing. You're disappointing me, Giant Bomb.

#32 Posted by DrDarkStryfe (1267 posts) -

Bayonetta is one of the best, pure, action titles ever made, and easily the best one of the generation.

#33 Edited by tp0p (92 posts) -

Voted for bayonetta. I knew it wasn't going to be winning this poll. I'm surprised that Assassins Creed 2 isn't here, though. I guess Brotherhood was the best iteration of the Assassins Creed formula.

#34 Edited by FriendlyPhoenix (522 posts) -

I wanted to vote for Bayonetta just out of spite towards you fuckers that picked Brotherhood over ACII, but damn if I don't love Brotherhood as well(but it's no Assassin's Creed II, you monsters!)

If this was Assassin's Creed 2 I would be fighting for it hard but since this is Brotherhood I immediately went with Bayonetta. I don't get how people saw past the mission design and kinda grindy economy when playing Brotherhood. I loved the assassin mechanic and that whole element, and hey its Ezio again, but at some point I found myself in the weeds with all that investing and some of the missions had frustrating checkpointing.

The only downside to Bayonetta is its lacking performance on PS3 and lack of a PC version to make it look super nice. But still, it was Bayonetta that proved that with a little style and fun you could actually recontextualize what would otherwise be another tedious example of a sexy female character in games. Also, Brotherhood doesn't have Sonic ring sounds.

Not only that but you punch god into the dang sun! Suck it god!

Bayonetta is one of the best games around. Brotherhood's multiplayer is unique but the single player structure had already become tired at that point. This is a not even a contest and yet Brotherhood appears to be winning.

#37 Posted by PulledaBrad (631 posts) -

Having motherfuckers appear out of no where to do dirt is the best!

These poll results make me wanna barf.

ack, too hard to choose. It's tearing me apart

#40 Edited by JohnTunoku (205 posts) -

One-button combat vs all of the buttons combat.

I don't expect Bayonetta to win. The AC series is too popular in spite of all its shortcomings.

#41 Posted by Liquidus (954 posts) -

Voted for it but goddamnit, Bayonetta isn't gonna win, is it? DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!

#42 Posted by coaxmetal (1712 posts) -

Bayonetta is definitely a superior game, especially in context where brotherhood was just rehashed AC2. But I can deal with the fact that most people can't appreciate it, or likely didn't play it.

#43 Posted by Disaya (292 posts) -

I like AC but come on Bayonetta is always the right answer.

#44 Posted by Damodar (1623 posts) -

I like playing video games, so I voted for Bayonetta.

#45 Posted by Colourful_Hippie (4812 posts) -

I had more fun with Bayonetta and that's that.

#46 Edited by ArtisanBreads (4511 posts) -

Bayonetta fans super salty and think someone can't like Brotherhood. Cool if you think it's better, for sure, just these responses are hilarious. As if Brotherhood is a bad game.

#47 Posted by Chop (2010 posts) -

I feel like Brotherhood is more of a complete package. Bayonetta is really, really good at the one thing it does but I don't care for that one thing.

#48 Posted by Deranged (1919 posts) -

Brotherhood.

#49 Posted by JohnTunoku (205 posts) -

@chop: I feel pretty much the opposite. The setting and the characters are the only parts of Brotherhood that really appeal to me, everything else feels exactly the same as every other AC game.

#50 Edited by NegativeCero (3084 posts) -

Bayonetta. It's got a soft spot for me just for it's combat and over the top antics.
