GotG Round 3: Mass Effect 2 vs. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Mass Effect 2 needs to be put in the final bracket. Simple as that.

Mass Effect 2 came out in 2010, not 2009.

Also, Mass Effect 2 is the best game of the generation. Simple as that.

I'd be alright with Mass Effect 2 to be honest. My number one choice is going to be murdered by Skyrim at this very moment so no luck there but ME2 is not far down my personal list.

I'm fine with Mass Effect 2 too, to be honest. I liked it quite a bit, but just not as much as the original. I suppose my number one choice is losing against Dark Souls...

two fantastic games, but I have to lean toward Mass Effect since I find the fiction/storyline and character progression more enjoyable.

I really liked Brotherhood but I'm not sure how it made it this far. It's gonna get destroyed here.

ass effect 2 was pretty good.

god damn I love shotgun blasting and charging with a vanguard soooooo much. Still replayed it 5 or so times checking out the other classes.

Glad Brotherhood's reign of terror ends here.

Playing an aggressive Vanguard was super satisfying in 2. It felt off in 3, however. Was really disappointing, but that obviously wasn't the most disappointing part of 3 by a long shot.

Anyway, ME 2 is pretty fucking good. I love brotherhood, but I think I enjoyed AC2 over brotherhood.

Sorry Assassins Creed but ME2 is arguably one of the best games of the past decade for me. Better characters, better story, better universe, the works. Only thing I'd say AC wins with is soundtrack.

Mass Effect 2 is not the best in the trilogy. You recruit a party for 30 hours then fight a terminator. Wat?

I still feel that contra 3 style boss in ME2 isn't well developed. There should be a more of progression of other over the top moments. ME2 is just a series of really charming one off adventures with your crew as you grow to love a couple of them like teenagers.

AC2 Brotherhood just keeps building and building and building, like that whole fight with the borgias is EPIC, finally the series got a boss fight it desirved. Rome is handcrafted with so much care, I love how much this didn't feel like a retread of AC2

And it's all basically a sidequest to the main event.

Personally, I would choose Assassin's Creed Brotherhood over Mass Effect 2. I simply enjoy the AC franchise more than ME and 2 really didn't do much for me. Granted, it's been a little while since I've played Mass Effect 2.

I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and I feel like it took all the great things about AC2 and refined them perfectly. I loved the addition of recruiting civilians who were tired of the Templar bullshit in Rome to the Assassin's Guild and training them to become master assassins in their own right. I thought Rome was absolutely gorgeous and I really loved upgrading the shops, banks, and major landmarks to restore the life back to Rome. I've always really dug the historical/pseudo historical elements from the AC franchise as well. Ezio is also just one of my favourite characters of this generation.

I'd really like to see ME2 and Dark Souls face off against each other as the Finale to this whole thing.

Voting for Mass Effect 2 because it's a way to vote for the trilogy as a whole.

If a vote for Mass Effect 2 is a vote for Mass Effect 3, that would probably scare people off.

I appreciate the ambition of what they tried to do with the trilogy, even if they didn't ultimately succeed like we might have wanted them to. I find it somewhat hard to view them as independent games.

One of these has a genius, alien scientist that likes to sing Rodgers and Hammerstein. Enough said really.

I still don't understand why everyone loves Mass Effect 2 so much, I have some major issues with that game. At this point the only conclusion I can draw is that skipping Mass Effect 1 irreparably damaged my ME2 experience. Oh well. I'll save the real bitching for when this game is in the finals.

mass effect 2 is a flawed game. it has the best action of the series, but mass effect 1 has the best story and best ambience. Mass Effect 2 abandons the space opera feel for Sometimes Very Dumb Action Movie In Space.

I like the Ezio trilogy, one of my favorite this gen, but this wasn't a hard choice. Mass Effect 2 is fantastic, and that game; that trilogy, brings some of the greatest gaming memories to me, if not ever, at least this generation (though I think ever).

Mass Effect 2, the only game I can think of that had me buy all the individual DLC just so I can have more of ME2 to play.

Tight competition between these two for GOTY 2010, but Brotherhood just edges out ME2 for me.

It seems like I am the only one that actually disliked AC: Brotherhood, while enjoying a lot of AC2. I didn't like the changes they did to the game: the one button insta-kill everything on screen and the silent one hit crossbow look cool, but break the entire game, and I didn't care at all about the superfluous chests that only gave me money.

Mass Effect 2, on the other hand, is part of a great series and a great game onto itself.

@hermes: No, I don't care for AC:B at all, didn't vote for it in the prelim don't understand why anyone else did. It is just AC 2 with extra features that honestly aren't all that fun to me.

In other news, see you AC brotherhood, nice knowing you. Just one more head on ME2's chopping block until the semi finals where it might face an actual opponent.
