Guys, calm down. Dark Souls taking this poll or the final (Go DS!) won't take anything away from your favorite games. I have to say I love reading the comments on any thread it's in.

I'm actually bummed out by the seeming lack of a vindictive asshole voting bloc, where it's just hate filled grudge voting. Those are honestly the funnest to be a part of too because then you're a man wanting to watch the world burn.

I'm going with riboflavin on this one. Also, the NG games blow donkeys for quarters. I seriously don't understand how anyone enjoys them. Terrible cameras, bad controls, overly complex inputs, cheap AI (rather than good AI)... If I want that stuff, I'll go play Steel Battalion...which is coincidentally another FROM game.

I stand by you once again, Dark Souls.

Both are amazing games, no doubt. But I replayed Dark Souls way more times than I felt like replaying Portal 2.

I find it very hard to replay the portal games.

Mostly because in puzzle games once you find out the trick going back through is simply the motions.

Dark Souls. Because then I can bitch about Mass Effect 2.

I expected either it to be Mass Effect 2 vs Dark souls or Red Dead vs Mass Effect 2 for the final. Looks like it'll be the prior.

From the beginning I've been on Team FUCK DARK SOULS.

I've played Portal 2 a couple of times, and I really do love it, but I've put so much time in to Dark Souls and, as much as solving a Portal puzzle always made me feel really accomplished, the feeling pales compared to finally conquering something in Lordan. My vote has to go with the sun, but I'll always love you, Aperture.

I'm not saying it was set up this way or anything but I think this it'd be a pretty different competition if Skyrim, Mass Effect and Dark Souls met each other earlier rather than each steam rolling the competition on the way to the finals

Don't you see? throwing salt at Dark Souls just makes it stronger that's what that game is all about.

I love Portal 2, but Dark Souls is still one of my favorite games in the past 10 years.

This would be harder if it was against Portal 1.

It's really ironic (and sad) that Dark Souls refuses to die.

'bout time Portal 2 got knocked out of the running. All these fool eyes see is MGS4 vs Red Dead Redemption. My dreams are over.

This is the first round since round 1 where I'm voting for Dark Souls. Something I love about brackets is every round is completely new. Street Fighter IV did so much for fighting games, Bioshock for refined 1st person atmosphere and narrative elements. I have so much love for Red Dead. I was really pulling for it last round. Probably still my favorite Rockstar game (Bully and GTA V are certainly in contention for that meaningless honor).

Portal 2 is a damn fine game, and I've voted for it in the past (more times than Dark Souls, in fact), but each match up is an individual test. And in this case, I'd give the edge to Dark Souls. Its breadth, reaching so many players, it goes beyond cult classic. Truly a gem, and a game that just now I'm realizing I'd be fine with it winning the whole thing (though I'll likely vote against it in the next round).

I just checked the bracket you maniacs, you did it, you blew it up! Skyrim over The Last of Us? Where do I turn in my league of video games member card?!

I really hope Dark Souls doesn't win this...

Dark Souls gets my vote.

I liked Portal one better than Portal 2, and dat Level Design in Dark Souls was something else.

This is where the winner will be decided. Mass Effect 2 & Skyrim, although good games, were still safe iterations of games that innovated in the previous generations. Portal 2 & Dark Souls both came from series created this generation that were different from what had come before.

Personally, I voted for Portal 2 because I feel the Portal series was more innovative than the Souls series. However, I'm currently playing through Dark Souls and grasping the nuances that make it feel... well, unique compared to other games. I won't rage if it wins. I will rage if either of these games doesn't win GotG, though.

Really surprised by the popularity of Dark Souls. I was under the impression that it had a very vocal minority of hardcore fans, so I'm rather stunned to see it beating a game like Portal 2, which is as close to perfect as any game came to this generation.

Dark Souls. If it wins this bracket, I'm not sure I can vote for it over Mass Effect 2 though.

@dudeglove: Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy me some Dark Souls. And do think it belongs in some of the best of the generation for sure. I don't think it should beat games like Red Dead, Portal 2, or Bioshock.

I could have gone either way, but Dark Souls has been on my mind lately. I've voted for it in every poll it's been in so far, so why stop now? I'm not going to pick it over Mass Effect 2, though. That would be too much.

How did Portal 2 get this far again...? Oh yeah... weakest bracket to this point.

I don't understand why Solaire is so much more popular than all the other characters in the Souls series. I mean, the phrase is kind of contagious, but to me he's just another character. Screw the Sun and screw the gods.

I think Artorias and Sif are much more lovable.

Priscilla is pretty popular as well, but she appeals more to the anime crowd. Her design is moe as fuck due to the fact that she speaks softly, she's fluffy, she basically naked, and she lets you look at her as long as you want because she wont aggro unless attacked.
