Definitely Mass Effect 2 for me as well. I can't believe how popular the game still is on these forums - still has the top spot for the most popular game forum.
i haven't played any games that have come out this year yet. I'm getting Red Dead Redemption for sure though. Considering it might be the only new game i play all year it'll probably be that. I'm more of a wait for the price drop kinda guy, but RDD looks sweet.
Red Dead Redemption, I know it isn't out yet and I don't care. Every video I have seen gets me more and more pumped and the recent online game play just pushed me over the edge. On top of that they said there are still somethings they haven't shown with online. I was perfectly content with the features they mentioned in the video. So I have to go with Red Dead.

I believe you are mistaken, as FE4 won Game of the Decade. That means it was GOTY for 10 years, including last year, making AC2 a second place game. Nothing beats Fire Emblem 4. NOTHING.
Mass Effect 2 easily takes the top spot so far. I expect it will stay there unless something just blows my mind later in the year. ME2 is just so god damn fantastic. It's one of my favorite games that's come out in years.
Alot of great games so far. I dont think I've played anything that is quite game of the year worthy yet, though (Yes, I played ME2 and its great but not, imo, game of the year worthy based on titles coming out soon which I expect I will enjoy more).
Early prediction, though, if I may. I suspect Alan Wake will be a great game. Game of the year worthy? If it does what it lauds, is a decent length, and is thoroughly enjoyable I expect it will be. Just a prediction though, I of course cant be sure yet. Sorry, im really excited for that. I was trying to think of another one but right now I havent seen anything else coming out that could be a contender just based on what I see about games so cant add any other predictions or I would.
By a critic standpoint and not my own. Mass Effect 2 so far. And as for myself. I haven't really been into new games this year so I never bought God of War 3, Bayonetta, and what have you. So for me? Mass Effect 2 as well. It was awesome. I just wish the first was a bit better. It kind of puts the second down a notch. And yeah, there are a lot of Mass Effect 2's. It's just that there aren't really any better games to triumph it. But, so far this year it isn't like 07, or 08, where all you found were almost a myriad of top notch games. Mass Effect 2 has its problems, but still. It's up there as the best game so far. And Battlefield Bad Company 2 is good too, and I'm sure it'll get its fair share of awards, but it's not likely to be out-done by Mass Effect 2 as for game of the year.

What if Nintendo released Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu HD Remix? Would that beat it? Or would it technically count as the same thing?
