Great story, horrible cast

I think we've all played a few games where the story is good, but the characters are unbearable. So let's name them, I guess. Are you confused? Then here's an example: Lunar: Eternal Blue. Could anybody go five minutes without killing off Lemina? Hm?

I not sure how to answer this. To me, if the characters are bad than it's not a great story. BioShock? Not that I had anything against the characters, I guess they are just the least of the best.

I can't think of a game with a great story and horrible cast, but I can think of games with a horrible story and an excellent cast. Chief among them being Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords. Unlike its predecessor, the story was loosely held together and had a plethora of plot holes like no other. On the other hand, the characters were incredibly deep with rich back-stories and complex motives and feelings. Moreso than many games I have played to date.

I killed the arbiter in Halo 3... He was very annoying

i've played quite a few of the games mentioned so far and had no problems with them, i say one of the worst characters is whats her name from RE4

The characters in Deus Ex were pretty wooden for the most part.....exceptions like Page and Everett aside.

I fucking hate Dmitri from Grand Theft Auto IV. Of course, that's a bi-product of his character, being that he's a heartless, backstabbing bastard.

I thought the characters in TWEWY were almost a parody of other JRPGs, since they start out as basic archetypes and end up with more depth than you would typically see.

X-men Origins

If the characters suck, the story sucks. Unless you just mean the voice actors or something. Then I can't think of any game with good ones. Except MGS. And it's decent to play JRPGs with Japanese voice overs since you can't tell they fuck up as much.

Not exactly, Alex. Again, play Lunar 2. Good story, AWFUL CAST.

I would say Star Ocean: the last hope, but the story wasn't all that great either.

Sarah from Star Ocean.  Pretty good story (not amazing though), but she's just annoying.  She serves no purpose and has a genuinely annoying voice (although you do get use to it).

The worst character in gaming history however is the shaven head military marine.  They're awful.
