half stars

I think the review system should do a half star system. I am saying this because really, Resistance 2 is better than COD WAW. So in that case, Resistance 2 could have got 4.5 stars instead of 4.

I personally believe the whole 5 star system is flawed because it allows far less room then say a 10 star system would.

I think the review system should do quarter star systems because its more accurate than half and full star systems.

How about 1000 stars with 1/100th star granularity? You can never be too precise...

I would be more fond of a 100 full-star rating system. That way I could meticulously arrange my game collection based on score, and help me cope with my O.C.D. in the process!

The whole point of the star system is to get the person to actually read the review, you know, so people WONT go "OMFG ONLY A 9.5 IT SHOULDA GOT A 10!!".

being the guy that i am, ive skipped everything everyone has posted and put up my own idea. Keep the whole stars but give the review badges or emblems that signify the ups and downs.

Maybe we could do it like the dirty porn mags do whislt on the shelves of shops, and just put a small black star over everything naked on the cover as not to offend young eyes??

What would you say is the best way of censoring out the maybe offensive star genitalia? - they are a neccessity for sure but theres a chance that the obstruction method itself may relate it to some less than flattering sources - it was the keen eyed staff that spotted the gender differances between the two - however we are having diffculty ind eciding how to deal with it!!

I actually think they could ditch the two-star rating and make it a four-star system. Suck on that idea.

I think certain games should also have starfish ratings too, and instead of a slit for percentage taken off, there should a hole in the center - the bigger the hole, the more percentage points taken off. The only problem is finding the area.

R = (S -C)/S  (R = rating ratio of star, S = Area of star (let's make it a regular 5 pointed star), C= Area of circle [S>=C])

R = (pi)r^2 (r = radius of circle)

S= a^2/(4 tan (A/2), a=length of the base of the "outer triangle" A="outer angle" of said triangle

so R = [(a^2/(4 tan A/2)) - (pi)r^2] / (a^2/(4 tan A/2))

that will defeat the purpose. The rating is not meant to be used to compare games, its a gauge as to how fun the game is.
