Out of all the First-person shooters I have played, it has to be one of the best.
But is that what you think?

Halo 3.....One of the best First-Person Shooters ever?
Definitely not. It is good, don't get me wrong, and it has features coming out of every orifice, but it's not one of the best first-person shooters ever. It wasn't even in the top echelon of shooters of last year, much less of all video gaming history.
Now, Halo: Combat Evolved? Easily on that list.
Negative. There are games out there that are so much better than Halo 1, 2 or 3 that have been around for years to decades.
well i see what you mean, but expand your points, why is forge lame? or are you just not a fan of fps's
Just a forewarning that if this breaks down in to any sort of flamewar it's going to be immediately locked.
Express your opinion and justify it properly.
Please be aware that if you think something sucks, that doesn't necessarily mean everyone else should.
On another note, in the future, please make sure to post topics pertaining to a certain game in that games' sub-forum.
Easily one of the best first person shooters of all time, even now I still play it pretty regularly. Multiplayer makes the game for me, play a lot of 4player splitscreen....
Hmm.. Halo 3?.. no..
Halo ? yes.. Halo was a brilliant game, compelling story, good mechanics etc... Halo 3 was mostly more of the same, hardly with any improvement except graphics.. You had the same weapons nearly, same grav, same style.. nothing new.. unless the "best list" is very long, halo 3 isn't near one of the best.
I'm going to argue the point that states the series hasn't changed since Combat Evolved:
The player can jump much higher now. Haha.
Joking, totally joking.
I can't call it one of the best. four years ago I would but that was because I was an ignorant xbox fanboy then. Its a great game, sure. But it lacks something that games like Half-Life and Bioshock have. It still beats all those brown shooters out there. (I'm looking at you GoW)
It is one of the best multiplayer FPS out there, though.
The original Halo was a great game, and neither of the sequels even came close to it. Halo 2 and 3 I'd put on par with Resistance and Call of Duty 2. The original is up there with games like Far Cry, and Crysis.
"This guy has it down.Worst*

Because it isn't that good of a game? Forge is lame, the graphics are decent at best, Master Chief is possibly the most shallow character of all time, the voice acting is mediocre, the multiplayer takes little to no skill, and the series has not evolved since Combat Evolved. That's why.
I've only played a few FPS, but I prefer older ones. Mission Impossible for N64 is what got me into FPSs so it takes the cake for me. It was all stealthy at some points and action at other points. Which is why tomorrow I'm getting the MGS4 Collecters Trilogy. (Something like that...>_> Don't remember what it is called)
I thoroughly enjoyed Halo 3, but not so much as to call it the best FPS ever. Firstly, I would like to point out, the campaign is dreadful, I only enjoyed 3 levels, which is very disappointing. The fact that if you accidentally kill team AI, some can 1-hit you. There have been barely any improvements except the graphics, sound, etc, but not enough to call for a new game. Even if the levels are different. The online community is full of people who repeatedly say the N word or tell you that you suck at Halo 3 even though you won. Which is very sad, that these kids need to tell you that you suck just to feel better, when it would be even easier to just get better at the game. Than, the "team killers", these people waste your time, they shoot at you while you are near enemies and get you killed, that is, until they hit your last nerve and you end up being booted. My final point about the community, is that they -rep for no reason. My brothers XBLA had people -repping him for communication, yet he's never used the headset. There are some good points to Halo 3, graphics, good custom games, etc., but it's not something I'd pay $60+ on.
It's decent, definitely better than 2 but not half as good as the original or other FPS like Goldeneye or Perfect Dark
"That doesn't make it the worst, though. That just makes it extremely derivative and casual. =PWorst*

I can think of a lot worse first person shooters than Halo 3. *cough*Haze*cough*.
"Out of all the First-person shooters I have played, it has to be one of the best.Thinking back on the FPS since its inception, I'd go something like this:

Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom 2, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and a number of mods for many of these games and their direct derivatives.
If we're going to talk about console FPSes, Halo 3 is forgettable for me. The only thing that is notable about it is how hyped it was and what a let-down it was when I finally played it. Then again, I generally can't stand console FPSes. Goldeneye was brilliant, though, and I enjoy Metroid Prime 3.
I'm thinking about trying out COD4/COD:WAW though.
I think it is a really good FPS, but not the best. Near the top maybe. But I would have to say half-life is my favorite FPS.
Half-Life 2 is easily my favorite shooter. I don't think I've played enough of them to label one as "the best," though.
Jesus christ so much Halo backlash. I think Halo 3 is a fantastic game and the best game in the Halo series easily. It has a pretty awesome campaign, probably the most fun co-op I've ever experienced, with many epic moments, and a pretty strong multiplayer component. That said I thought the story's presentation was awful, there were 2 or 3 levels in the campaign that weren't that good (again with the Flood)... but that's pretty much the worst I can say for it. And this is coming from someone who hated Halo 2 and thought Halo 1 was only good in multiplayer. I got Halo 3 with sort of low expectations, and it proved to be pretty awesome. I don't know why everyone's such a negative nancy all of a sudden.
But yeah, one of the best first-person shooters ever? No, probably not. But I had a lot of fun with it, especially in co-op, and as far as console shooters go, it's one of the better ones.
The only thing I'd say Halo is missing is in the narrative - there's no sense of a romantic darkness to the world, there's no incarnation of evil - always, the humans defeat the Covenants, Master Chief can destroy a hundred elites, and it all takes place in candy land.
The Flood provided a little bit of that in the first Halo, but after a level or two, they were no longer fearsome.
Well Flame on!
Starts flamethrower!
Im gonna try and keep this PG
WHAT!!
The campign was crap. The online is ok even though my file share is full of messed up moments!
Is Halo 3 your first FPS??
I mean there a better FPSs out there
Deus Ex
Doom
Quake
Half Life
Goldeneye
Halo Combat Evolved
COD 4
As far as single player goes, it's fun, but not really even close to being the best I've ever played. Multiplayer is a ton of fun, though. I'd put it in a top-10 list.
And as far as comparing it to old Halo games or Goldeneye: Halo 3 isn't too different from Halo 2, but it's incredibly better balanced and more refined, and I don't know if anyone's actually played Goldeneye in the past decade, but it does not hold up.
