So in the last few weeks I've noticed alot of new users commenting on forums with like 2 posts and no avatar, alot of "Hey I'm new!" and "GianBomb is cool!" threads lately too. Has anyone else noticed it? The last time I checked, GB had a userbase of 50k.
Has GiantBomb gotten bigger?
Well, I remember GB being more tight as in community wise, but I think from now on GB is going to get bigger and people will only know some major dudes like JJWeatherman and stuff, and I guess we won't be as tight and alot of assholes may come. But good for the GB crew and making their site bigger!

That was a joke?
" Well, keep in mind that E3 just happened, so many of us who usually just lurk may come out of the woodwork and post for a bit :) "@mrfizzy: See, and the quest thing, people maybe wanted to try it out, I think people need to sign up to GB if they use it.
" @ShaunassNZ: im not sure but it seemed to me that tons of new people started to join after the quests were added? dont ask me why that would be coz i dont know but thats when i remember seeing tons of new users coming in. "lurkers see a reason for having an account and messing around on it with quests obviously...
If you check out Giant Bomb's quantcast data, it certainly is growing. In fact it's quite steadily been growing since it's launch. :) I'm glad to see the site is doing well for the guys, and I certainly hope it continues to.
However, the community had better keep civil, or there will be ass whoopin's.
" 2010 posters = worst posters so far "Ever been to GameTrailers' forums lately? I came here to escape that.
I actually said this on another thread that didn't have anything to do with this question, although my response makes more sense here so I'm going to re-post it.
Giant Bomb was just featured on TWiT today thanks to Gerstmann's appearance. That show has about 200 000 viewers, and the culture behind it is that you visit any links that are mentioned during the show. Just one possible explanation for all the new users we're getting today.
One thing I didn't say because many people mentioned it in the other thread was that E3 definately is something that may have caused the spike in users. Probably we're just looking at people who have signed up for a few days and just discovered they could get XP for posting any old thing.
I've never been to any other gaming forums. Been following the GB crew since GS days and started posting about a year or two ago. People are coming from other forums and bringing all the nonsense. Its not like we hold each others hands here, but its pretty tame compared to other sites.
I daresay that it either has grown bigger, or members are simply using the forums more. Some of the quests basically demand that you use the forums, and some users might have needed more motivation in order for them to decide to try the forums. Just a shame they make maybe one thread or post, and then disappear again. There will be new users who turn out to be regulars in the future, but as it is the new users seem to be more focused on the quests.
Giant Bomb won me over with the XBOXACLYPSE, among other things. I'm still lurking a fair amount however, need to learn the ins and outs of the forum and such. I'm part of the reason AV club is so got dang difficult to finish now!
Hmm...I can't say. I got here around March '09...ish, so I wasn't here for the launch. However, I did know all these guys (Jeff, Ryan, Brad, etc.). It wasn't too hard becoming a regular here. This is the only game site I visit EVERY DAY and more than once a day...haha. Also, it is the only gaming site whose podcast I listen to. GiantBomb(dot)com. HA!
" Wow, we're up to almost 90K registered users now. And with a bit over 4500, the ladies have finally hit 5% of all users! *shocked* "Only like six of those are actual ladies, though.
I think it's great but yea, GB has gone up rapidly. For me it didn't take long for me to become a regular, I call people duder, I listen to the bombcast nearly everyday, watch tons of GB vids, and post alot more than I should (Though not much but hey.), And it truns out this the only gaming site I use apart from Kotaku for my news (When i open a new tab in Chrome GB is the most visted!).
