Has there ever been a game that drove you to purchase a console?

Just curious, cause Little Big Planet is really motivating me to buy a PS3.

The reason I have an Xbox 360 is because I had to have Gears of War. However Home is looking really good and I kind of want a PS3.

DC Universe online, GOd of War 3, and MGS 4 are really starting me to want a PS3 but I don't want to spend the money. I don't know what to do.

I bought a Gamecube solely for Metroid Prime when it released.

i used to be a major Nintendo fan boy, i love my football (soccer to some) and bought fifa 08 for the wii, this is a game i play regularly and have been since i first got a console, I felt the game was a major back-step in football games with the lack of options, poor controls est and was AMAZED at how much more depth it had on the 360 so thats what got me a 360.

Actually Panzer Dragoon made me buy the original xbox 

The Resistance series and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune shove me towards a PS3 purchase but i need spending money for next semester.

Odin Sphere for the PS2 drove me to buy a PS3.  Besides that? I bought a Wii for No More heroes.

i was set on getting a 360 for halo 3, but gears of war and oblivion made me buy it earlier.

I bought my Wii for Super Mario Galaxy. And I'm considering getting myself a PS3 for MGS4, but I dunno.

Honestly, I really don't think so.  The Genesis I just got because of many games and liked the console better than the SNES at the time.  Then the N64 I bought just cause it was the next system and Mario64 and Pilotwings looked sweet, but not relaly for those games alone.  Playstation, for Final Fantasy, Ridge Racer, Tomb Raider, Syphon Filter, Gran Turismo and ect...

I wouold say the closest one was probably the xbox.  I had been following Halo since it was an RTS on the mac and then once it went to Xbox I kept following it and kinda bought that system for that game I guess you could say.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on the Mega Drive/Genesis.  I was at a friends house, he had that game, I didn't have a Mega Drive at the time I was playing Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, he puts that on and I was sold.

Amazing to think that back in what 1993 when I first saw it on screen I was like DUUUUUUUDE... THE GRAPHICS ARE FRICKIN AWESOME... and then pestered my parents to get me one for Chrimbo.

I want a PS3 just for MGS4.

I'd be amazed if it wasn't the same for EVERY console purchase. I bought 3 generations of Nintendo consoles based on a Mario title and virtually nothing else (NES, N64, Wii - seemed to skip a generation each time). I'm pretty sure I bought a PC mainly for Doom.

As said here, HOME and/or LittleBigPlanet look a bit special - if either of those live up to pre-release expectations I'll have to take the plunge on a PS3.

I bought a Nintendo DS so I could play Advance Wars

I bought an XBOX 360 just so that I could play Gears of War on a new HDTV... still a wonderful call.

I bought a PS2 for GTA Vice City, and I got a 360 as soon as I knew GTA4 wasn't a Playstation 3 exclusive. Not that I have anything against the Playstation 3, I simply prefer the 360 exclusives.

I got the GameCube because of Super Smash Bros. Melee and Star Wars Rogue Leader 2; Nintendo 64 because of Star Fox 64 and Mario Kart 64.

Every Nintendo console since the N64 for a Zelda game.

Xbox 360 for Halo 3, also a few future releases. Halo 3 is really the best local multiplayer fps I can think of, having friends over and going on live is a blast.

Not me, personally. But my dad bought us an Xbox 360 just off of the "Mad World" Gears of War commercial.

Yeah. Most consoles do that to me.

Back in the day, I bought a Sega Saturn to play Virtual On. Also, got me a Dreamcast for Marvel vs. Capcom 2

My main reasoning for buying my Wii was to play Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario, but since I bought it, I bought other games also.

I only bought my Gamecube for Super Mario Sunshine and Pikmin. I didn't get many other games for my Gamecube.

Little Big Planet and MAG has me interested in a PS3. If I did get one, it'd be the first time I ever played a console other than Nintendo... it'd be a sad day. I already play games on my PC, so I'm not a strict Nintendo fanboy anyway.

Well no, because im not an idiot (no offense). But I never buy a platform because of one game, I research it heavily, then look at the future that it holds, then judge.

Now if your talking about multiple games, or a game being the last straw/tipping point for you to buy a console, yeah, there have been many of those for people who aren't early adopters, for sure. :)

I suppose Gears of War pushed me to buy the 360. Though usually my hardware purchases for games are on the PC. Upgraded many times over just to play that one game. Ugh.
