Pretty much anything digitally uttered from Mr. Zurkon's killhole. Here are some choice examples: "Mr. Zurkon does not need bolts. His currency is pain!" "Death is too stupid for Mr. Zurkon." "I shall let you live little alien...psych! Mr. Zurkon lives only to kill." "Mr. Zurkon conducts a symphony of pain." "You used to be alive, then you met Mr Zurkon." "Mr. Zurkon requires no nanotech to survive. Mr. Zurkon lives on fear!" "Killing stuff is so much fun do da do da Zurkon kills them all day long all the do da day."

I forgot how amazing Mr. Zurkon was. Wow.

JUMP AND PRESS THE CIRCLE BUTTON!

Bentley. Every Sly Cooper game

I hope they take that out of Sly 4. I've been playing the HD collection recently and I get pissed when they repeatedly tell me what button to press. I know what to do damnit!

It's one of my favorite parts. Although I thought it was pretty good when in the first game Sly goes "Yeah, jump and press the circle button. I know."

It was funny at first. Then it got annoying, especially since you can't skip that dialogue.

It has come to my attention that some have lately called me a collaborator, as if such a term were shameful. I ask you, what greater endeavor exists than that of collaboration? In our current unparalleled enterprise, refusal to collaborate is simply a refusal to grow - an insistence on suicide, if you will. Did the lungfish refuse to breathe air? It did not. It crept forth boldly while its brethren remained in the blackest ocean abyss, with lidless eyes forever staring at the dark, ignorant and doomed despite their eternal vigilance. Would we model ourselves on the trilobite? Are all the accomplishments of humanity fated to be nothing more than a layer of broken plastic shards thinly strewn across a fossil bed, sandwiched between the Burgess shale and an eon's worth of mud? In order to be true to our nature, and our destiny, we must aspire to greater things. We have outgrown our cradle. It is futile to cry for mother's milk, when our true sustenance awaits us among the stars.

The Volksgrenadiers (more or less a drafted militia) in Company of Heroes are the weakest unit available to the Wehrmacht army. They're awesome.

Among many from Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne:

Vlad was right. There are no choices. Nothing but a straight line. The illusion comes afterwards, when you ask 'Why me?' and 'What if?'. When you look back and see the branches, like a pruned bonsai tree, or forked lightning. If you had done something differently, it wouldn't be you. It would be someone else looking back, asking a different set of questions.

Rather profound for a video game, I've always thought.

(Glad I'm not alone in thinking highly of Max Payne, couple mentions in here)

It's funny when you're with your friends doing Bently/Sly/Murray impressions. You need at least a trio for this.

'Disingenuous assertions'? Does that phrasing work? Disingenuous would meaning lacking candor and sincerity. An assertion is confident, forceful statement. So the person's confident statements lacks candor and frankness?

"You shall find no such tasty diversions in the afterlife!" - Exdeath, Final Fantasy V

"Whaddaya buyin'?" - The Merchant, Resident Evil 4

"I came when I heard you beat the Elite Four!" - Professor Oak, Pokemon

"I was brought back here by... huuuuuumaaanssssss who wished to pay me tribute." -Dracula, Symphony of the Night (somebody took the miserable pile of secrets one).

"Yes, the Russian glowcap is a glowing mushroom, so it'll recharge your batteries when you eat it." - Para-Medic, Metal Gear Solid 3

In fact, MGS3 is just gold. I found this.

My favorite, out of ones that I can remember;

"Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair. You know that."

And a bunch of Mass Effect quotes:

  • "You don't go to the good fights, they come to you."
  • "Tell me what I want to know or I blast your virtual ass in to actual dust."
  • "Why is it whenever someone says 'with all due respect', they really mean 'kiss my ass'?"
  • "Someone up there needs my boot up his ass."
  • "Sometimes crazy is the best way to go."
  • "Well, there was this one time the Turians tried to wipe out our entire race. That was fun."
  • "Who votes to take the vehicle into the creepy underground tunnel?"
  • "I'm pleased that the imminent destruction of all organic life has improved you career opportunities."
  • "Reaper? A label created by the Protheans to give voice to their destruction. In the end, what they chose to call us is irrelevant. We simply... are."
  • "Secrets are like herpes: If you got 'em, might as well spread 'em around."

"I've been waiting for this!" -Akihiko

#71 Posted by TheFreeMan (2712 posts) -

"Were it so easy." (The Arbiter, repeatedly.)

"Prepare for unforeseen consequences." (G-Man, all over the place)

And this exchange never fails to make me laugh:

Ramses: "Iram of the Pillars. Where is it?"

Drake: "I don't know."

Ramses: "Bullshit."

Drake: "Look, even if I knew, my life wouldn't be worth much once I told you, would it?"

Ramses: "You insult me."

Drake: "...you're a pirate!"

Ramses: "And a good businessman!"

Basically every Uncharted exchange is pretty great ("Elena Fisher, last year's model.").

Ileyna Faustin: [about Mikhail Faustin] He did not used to be like this. When we were young, at home, he was beautiful. He was happy. He made me happy. But then something changed. Years ago. I never quite knew what it was. So many years I wondered what it was, or what was wrong with me that I did not see it in him, or I changed him.

Niko Bellic: Life is complicated. I... I never thought I'd live like this.

Ileyna Faustin: No?

Niko Bellic: When the war came, I did bad things, but after the war I thought nothing of doing bad things. I killed people, smuggled people, sold people.

Ileyna Faustin: And you don't worry about your soul?

Niko Bellic: After you walk into a village and you see 50 children, all sitting neatly in a row, against a church wall, each with their throats cut and their hands chopped off, you realize that the creature that could do this doesn't have a soul.

Joker: Quick, the cure! What are you waiting for? Come on! I killed your girlfriend, poisoned Gotham, and hell, it's not even breakfast. But so what? We all know you'll save me.

Batman Every decision you've ever made ends in death and misery. People die. I stop you. You'll just break out and do it again.

Joker: Think of it as a running gag...

[the Joker leaps out and stabs Batman in the shoulder, causing him to drop the vial containing the cure, shattering it]

Joker: Nooooo!

[Batman pulls out the knife while the Joker drops to the floor and begins desperately trying to grab some of the cure]

Joker: Are you happy now?

Batman: You want to know something funny? Even after everything you've done... I would have saved you.

Joker: [laughs, coughs] That actually is... pretty funny...

also the Joker lost quote was pretty great too.

Everything Cave Johnson said in Portal 2, like these two phrases:

"If you've cut yourself at all in the course of these tests, you may have noticed that your blood is pure gasoline - that's normal. We've been shooting you with an invisible beam that's supposed to turn blood into gasoline, so all that means is it's working." -Cave Johnson

"For this next test we put nanoparticles in the gel. In layman's terms, that's a billion little gizmos that are gonna travel into your bloodstream and pump experimental genes and RNA molecules and so forth into your tumours. Now maybe you don't have any tumours. Well don't worry, if you sat on a folding chair in the lobby and weren't wearing lead underpants we took care of that too." -Cave Johnson

Jon

Life...is strength. That is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world. But is it what you want? You are...different inside. This woman lives and has strength of a sort. She lost her parents to plague, her husband to war, but she persevered. Her farm prospered, her children are well-fed, and her name respected throughout her land. She lived as she thought she should. And now she is dead. Her land will be divided, her children will move on, and she will be forgotten. She lived a good life, but she had no real power; she was a slave to death. I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten as she was. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?

AM

Ellen! So think, think about the yellow box, Ellen! Remember the pain? Remember the many caverns in which you felt the pain? Now, now, don't start to cry, it's only pain. Tsk, tsk, tsk. That's such a sexist stereotype. Just remember the pain, Ellen, and think about how to end it, Ellen, to survive here in the center of my beating heart, my hungry belly, my tightened bowels.
