Help with sharing files over a wireless network

rite now im using microsoft workgroups which seems kind of alrite but im scared it wont be safe, i have a free 2wire router that uses WEP.

is there another way to share files over a network? i dont really understand how the set up wireless network thing works.

and yes i have heard of google, i was just wondeirng if i could get tips from people in a more personal form
