Looks awesome but i wish it had that "now i have become death" speech in the trailer but regardless best looking movie of the summer so far
Here is the official trailer for Godzilla
Interesting take. Bryan Cranston & Ken Watanabe seem like the biggest names, maybe not the best portent, though both are good. Liked the use of color during that airdrop. Needed more Blue Oyster Cult.
@rockyraccoon37: The original film from the 1950s was a serious drama. After the horrendous first attempt at an American Godzilla film, this appears to be more along the right track.

Oh man. And that original is amazing. Still holds up today.

For sure, just personally speaking my connection with that character has been more with the sequels which carry a stronger and sillier nationalistic tone.
Not saying this looks bad or should have been like the sequels, just that this interpretation doesn't really speak to me.
Wow. That looked excellent. Seems like the original design ins mostly there, given you don't really see much but an outline. I do appreciate the more serious tone, the original was about the horrors of nuclear war and I think it's fine to keep it serious. Throw that in with one Bryan Cranston and you got yourself a good lookin film.
Also, how amazing would it be if a movie of this budget used an actual person in a suit and scale model buildings? Would be fucking amazing.
While I enjoyed the 1998 Godzilla movie, I had no context for the series as that was my introduction. I then watched the Godzillathon on Cinemassacre and realized why people hated it so much. This seems more in line with what the japanese version is. Specifically the first godzilla movie without him battling other crazy monsters. It looks pretty good.
sigh, no one understands why I love Godzilla.... except for Pacific Rim. That captured everything I loved about the Gman, right down to maybe those cg creatures could have been dudes in suits. And Pacific Rim captured the colors of those late 80s and 90s movie posters
anyway, yawn, when's Pacific Rim 2 coming out?
