I was playing black ops and there they mentioned that the soviets hired ex nazi rocket scientist to help with their space/rocket program.
But we all know it was infact USA that hired Nazis to work on theirs the most prominent being Wernher von Braun who later became chief of NASA.
This bothers me a lot i just feel vg are now too political and spreading too much propaganda. Anybody else encounter anything similiar?
Historic inaccuracies in VG
You know, I'd be surprised if NASA hired EVERY ex-Nazi rocket scientist. The Soviets probably got to one or two, right?
Also, the whole, evil plot to take over the world thing in the game probably should have been the give away that it wasn't meant to be accurate.
Both Russia and the US hired German scientists after WWII.
Also, everything in video games is accurate and actually happened, and you are expected to believe so. Ice Cube died in Vietnam.
also it talks about how the soviets manipulated a lot of the vietcong actions during the vietnam war, but there was actually much more chinese involvement (while the soviets were still present, but not in numbers as significant as the chinese)
I havent seen any mention anywhere that Soviet hired nazi scientists.
but the USA had operation paperclip which actively searched and hired nazi scientists.
But the game made it out that the soviets were really evil for hiring nazi scientists but at the same time their head of nasa was an ex nazi.

Also, an evil dictator named M. Bison has been thwarted by a vagabond in a karate gi on multiple occasions.
Actually, it was quite common for former Nazi scientists to go to the Soviet Union after the war. During the Cold War, neither country really cared who worked for them, so long as it gave them the opportunity to surpass the other. Both sides took in large numbers of specialists. You can read a bit about one of the largest emigration of German scientists here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Osoaviakhim

first of all, why are you going to call of duty for historical accuracy? second, why wouldn't the soviets hire ex nazi scientists?
Yeah, the entire premise of the OP is wrong - both the US and the Soviets recruited former Nazi engineers and scientists to work on their own rocket programs, although the Germans were arguably more prominent in the US program for a longer period - von Braun being the most obvious example.
Also, von Braun was never the head of NASA. He was the Director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in the sixties, then Deputy Associate Administrator for Planning. James Webb was the NASA administrator for most of the time that von Braun was working there.
The USSR snapped up plenty of German rocket scientists. The conditions they worked under tended to be more isolated and workcamp-like, as opposed to Von Braun making appearances in Disney specials, but they were a huge part of the Soviet space program.
So yeah, kind of a funny way to complain about this, but oh well.
But to address the topic, I am trying to think of an inaccuracy that really bugged me in a game, and am coming up dry. Though this is probably due to a general distaste for historical shooters, which I would imagine is where most of the egregious stuff would be.
Actually, MGS3 saying that there is a tropical jungle somewhere in the Soviet Union kinda bugged me, but *shrugs* seems kinda silly to complain about that in the face of Metal Gear's mountain of crazy.
I know this was a dark time and I hate to bring it up again, but...@PeasantAbuse said:

Duuude, too soon man, way too soon. It'll be years before you can mention that without looking like a jerk, you do realize how terrible it was back then, right?
Yes if both sides hired nazis then why did the game make the soviets seem evil for doing so if USA was doing the exact same thing"!!??"?" are people playing slow here are are they infact slow???

That stuff bothered me the most about the game. All the anachronistic technology was really unnecessary.

I can only see two options why they would possibly make Russia look bad and not USA. One option, stay with me here, could be because they wanted to make the russians look evil so you had a reason to shoot them or the second option could be that they just took some story and made it even more crazy since that makes for a better game. Don't you think you're taking stories in games a little too serious?

That's not what your first post was addressing. You started out by implying that it was factually inaccurate to say that the Soviets recruited Nazis.
- The AK-74u appears before the AK-74 itself even existed to be based upon.
- The Kiparis only really appeared on the scene as an actual production weapon around the collapse of the Soviet Union.
- The CZ75 appears despite being introduced in 1975, and the game ends in 1970.
- The Makarov in-game is a civilian model, which is historically inaccurate considering soldiers don't use civilian weaponry normally.
- The Hind guns in-game can be controlled by the pilot; they can't in real life.
- The FAMAS in-game is the G2 instead of the F1 which might actually have appeared.
- A 2011 Jeep Wrangler appears in Khe Sanh during the Vietnam War.
- The AK-47 in-game is a composite of a handful of different Kalashnikov based rifles.
- The WA2000 and PSG-1 probably shouldn't fit in the time scale of the game.
- The GAZ Chaika appears as a civilian car in Cuba despite being made in the USSR for senior politicians and / or the KGB.
- The British soldiers didn't pack Tokarev TT-33 pistols because they were going to fight the Russians at the Arctic Circle.
- Ice Cube didn't even fight in Vietnam.
- The Model 1887 is a rather unusual choice of weapon to keep in a Russian labor camp, alongside a minigun.
- Fortunate Son, by CCR, plays before it was even recorded in real life.
- The SPAS-12 appears in a mission in the sixties. It was produced from 1979 onwards.
- The Vietnamese soldiers did not have a Walther WA2000 - probably because it didn't exist at the time.
- The Russians use the Galil. Which did exist at the time... but was a NATO weapon.
Now... why did we use Call of Duty for its historical accuracy, anyway?

Because Black Ops was not attempting to do any form of political commentary.

To the best of my knowledge, the President of the United States has never been saved by Bad Dudes.
And seriously, drop the soviet/nazi point. You're wrong. Get over it. Desperately clinging to a lost cause doesn't help you.

Add the Steyr Aug to the list of things that are in black ops that didn't exist until years after its timeline
