Wtf is this? you post all of this yet don't even touch upon the characters who really are modelled after Bowie? Resident Evil Zero for example features a character who intendedly looks like Bowie.

Not to Mention Omikron: The Nomad Sould which features his music. Edit: Ah ok, so you found the weird picture of him in Omikron. That pick of him always freaked me out.

I dunno... I can see some of them, but I think a lot of them are coincidental. After all, the dude's been around and had a lot of looks... some of them were bound to sync up to some characters.

Bowie was big into androgeny and a bit of a femme, the Japanese make a lot of androgenous male characters, thats all.

Well on the evidence of that his other worldly looks have indeed inspired the character design of many. He has been one of those artists that expiriments with his looks and clothing, and that must make him a good source for inspiration.

Actually, you meant to say David Bowie inspired most shitty boy-girl characters from Final Fantasy.

And yes, all the pictures of him, its his vast power of being able to leap across many areas in entertainment through the years.

The secret truth is almost every single Japanophile I know (male and female, but mostly female) also either currently loves David Bowie, or went through a time in their life when they were obsessed with David Bowie, or both.

My point is, David Bowie is a major part of exported Japanese culture. Even though he's British.

Don't ask me how that works.

It's too bad he doesn't put out any albums anymore. There was Reality
in 2004 which I saw the tour. Towards the end of the tour he had to
have a bypass. After that, he hasn't bothered to produce anymore
albums. I guess he's unofficially retired. Pity.
