I found it through Arrows Pointing up, i think thats what it was called.
How did you guys find Giant Bomb?
I followed Jeff from his previous employer to his blog and then here. It has been fun to see all the cool people desert Jeff's previous employer like a sinking ship. Once Vinnie and Brad showed up here, I was quite excited about GB.
If memory serves, Jeff Gerstmann was on an IGN podcast way back when, and he plugged Giant Bomb in it's original single-page blog. Or maybe that appearance was further back, and something caused it to spark a search later that led me to the original Giant Bomb. But I've been around for a long while, now. Way back when Vinny and Brad joined the Bombcast for the first time. Anyone remember Metal Gear Solid's opening being streamed live? Kind of the precursor to the Quick Look. Good times.
I was watching Jeff's review of Halo 3 on Gamespot reminiscing the better days, and noticed someone posted something referring to him and his new website Giantbomb in the comments. I shit my pants when I found out they I had gone a year without knowing about it.
Some forum mentioned it, I can't remember which one though. They were discussing video game sites and GB was mentioned as being a cool place to be.
In one of Ryan's final blogs at GameSpot.com. Found my way here from the Arrow Pointing Down podcast... which I'm sure is the story for a lot of people here.
When the shit went down at Gamespot there were multiple topics in their forums where people were talking about the rumors and linking to different blogs of other people in the industry. Then I started to follow all those blogs and of course Jeff's Gamespot page and his new independent blog. I sticked with all these blogs and the GS forums for a while until the launch of Arrow Pointing Down. From there I just started to follow Jeff, Ryan and some other related blogs and occasionally checking back at Gamespot that was in disarray. Of course, before long this site was announced.
Yeah, after having been at gamespot for years, those events rocked my game related world.
I was watching the Call Of Duty 3 Tournament TV thing Gamespot had, and then watched the video review about Kane and Lynch the day it happened. I read the forum posts of outrage, and then a week later, I wondered what happened to the funny guy, and searched for Jeff Gerstmann. I found his blog, then Arrow Pointing Down, then the Blog version of Giant Bomb, signed up for the 'beta' that was never really a beta, and here I am.
I was wondering what Jeff, Ryan and co were doing, about a year after leaving GameSpot so, I searched Jeff Gerstmann on Google News and found a link to Giantbomb! :)
I found out about it after the whole Gamespot fiasco. I followed Jeff to his personal blog and started listening to Arrow Point Down the podcast before the GB Cast.
My roommate was like "check this site out" and I was like "okay, whatever". I didn't really think I would keep coming back and then I saw the Quick Look of Crash Time and I was sold. I never really followed GameSpot or Jeff but after seeing all the great stuff on this site I kind of feel like I missed out. Oh well, Giant Bomb is awesome.
On another forum I visit someone posted the video review for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. I've been hooked on jumping big ass ramps ever since. Oh, and this site as well.
I first became aware of Giant Bomb when the guys showed up on the 1up Yours Christmas/GotY special. (Ended up being the last 1up Yours before the giant layoffs they had over there) With the future of 1up uncertain, I was looking for more gaming podcasts. Started listening to the Bombcast, caught THEIR GotY debate and have kind of made this my central gaming hub since, though I do still listen to most of 1up's shows.
On a random sidenote, Jeff sounds TOTALLY DIFFERENT whenever he was on 1up Yours. Its kinda unnerving going back to that now and hearing how he sounds on their equipment as opposed to the Bomb's stuff.
I just heard about it as the site that Jeff started. I hadn't even heard of Jeff before the incident, but I later saw GB mentioned on the GS forums. When I came here the first time, I was just like "OK, this looks pretty cool, I guess" and didn't come back for a long time. Then I somehow ended up watching a Quick Look and all of a sudden realized "Oh shit, this site is actually really awesome"
