How do you start a new game with same character?

What game? Try to get this moved to the forums for the game you are talking about. Probably Mas Effect, but you can never be too sure...

i think there is a bug in the system since the new code has been put in. i've seen a few topics of people "accidentaly" posting in GD

Start New Game >> Import ME2 Character.

Ah, this would explain it. Fair enough. So long as we establish what game you are talking about exactly (weird that its moving for you). 
 
On the topic, I can't help you. Sorry for wasting your time reading this. =P

You'll know when it would say, it's after an actual part of the game, all the major intro stuff happens, then it cuts to a character creator, it says import there, you actually have to play a section of the game, you'll notice in playing it you never see his face.
