How good is Dead Space?

 I am an unproud person when I say, "I currently own zilcho horror games". Short and sweet should i Dead Space on the Xbox Live market place for 1600 using all my points, or should I pass on it and wait? PMs please.

Buy the hard copy you can probably find it cheaper plus you will own the game.  But to your question it is a very good game and my second favorite horror game behind Resident Evil 4 and it is barely behind that.

It's pretty excellent, probably my sleeper hit of last year...or the year before, whenever. Gets two thumbs up from me.

Dead Space is a great game. It doesn't do anything new, but it's very solid. You'll get some Resident Evil 4-ish shooting controls that are very fluid. You'll get some creepy enemy designs that are mostly people twisted like gruesome pretzels. But probably the coolest part of this game are the weapons you'll use. Buy Dead Space and you'll have a chance to use a remote control buzz saw. That's pretty awesome. 
 
As far as scares go, it's about as scary as any Alien movie. It has some jump scares, classic paranoia, and things that are just messed up.

Very good game, and for the price you can get it at now its even better.

Depends on the kind of game you like. I didn't like it much, the movement and everything was way too slow for my taste. I prefer Resident Evil 4/5 over it.

Yeah, Dead Space handles third person Zero-G in a very awesome and managable way. However, Zero-G has been used in video games for a long time. It's just that I don't hear many people refer to the Zero-G parts of Dead Space as groundbreaking or totally innovative, but that might be more of my opinion than anything else.

I'm ashamed to say that i bought Dead Space last week for €14.99 in HMV, and still have not played it. It's just sitting here beside me and yet i have not put it into my XBOX! When i wake up tomorrow I'll play it finally.

1600 points is the same as $20, right? You can buy it in stores for $20 new now, and then have the disc and box and everything. Anyway, you need to get it. It's awesome. One of the best games on this set of consoles.

its REALLY good but buy it on disc... its probably the same price but the disc is nicer to have..

I bought the PS3 version for $20 at Best Buy a few months ago.  I only played through the first chapter before shelving it.  I should really go back and finish it, seeing as I'd already beaten Dead Space:  Extraction.

I bought it for 20 bucks, and trust me when I tell you, I would have gladly paid 65 for it! it's an epic survival horror game, my favorite genre and trust me when I tell you that I consider it one of the best survival horror games of all time.

GOTY good.

Started my second play through after a year a few weeks ago... reason why it took so long is that I wanted to savour every minute of it!.. So good I considered buying a Wii just so I could see how the prequel went.

It's pretty good.

Pretty damn good.  One of the most tense gameplay experiences ever.  And stick with the plasma cutter all the way through.  It's all you're gonna need.

It's a great game. I didn't think it was as scary as other games though, it's more paranoia scary and you can get over that in an hour. The only thing that I found was i think I get motion sickness from the zero g stuff. 18 years of gaming, never got motion sickness from any other media or vehicle and then Dead fucking Space gets me. Bastard.

It is an awesome game, one of my favorites of all time, plus its under $20 so theres no reason not to check it out

It's five-playthroughs-and-could-still-see-myself-going-back-to-it again-good.
