Trying to beat as many as I can in a year and I thought it would be fun to keep a tally. DLC/Expansions count such as Left Behind, Burial at Sea, and Reaper of Souls. Also unlocking everything in a game like all the stages in something like Towerfall count.

I'm at 19 so far

1) Proteus

2) Thomas Was Alone

3) OlliOlli

4) Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

5) Tearaway

6) Diablo III

7) The Last of Us: Left Behind

8) Spelunky

9) South Park Stick of Truth

10) Infamous: Second Son

11) Towerfall Ascension

12) Outlast

13) Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion (2013)

14) Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F

15) The Amazing Spider-Man 2

16) WWE 2K14

17) Mario Kart 8 (all tracks and modes)

18) Deadpool

19) Harry Potter DH Pt2

Working on Tomb Raider PS4, KZSF, Octodad, FFXHD, and Bravely Default.

Good Luck and Happy Gaming Duders!!

I always say I'm going to keep track every year, then totally don't. I dunno. Second Son was probably my most recent one.

#3 Edited by Oscar__Explosion (2404 posts) -

Mass Effect

January 30

DmC: Devil May Cry

February 12th

March 16th

Bravely Default

#6 Posted by xXCrazyCostaXx (123 posts) -

@oscar__explosion: That's pretty good, I write down the date on mine also. How long did Bravely Default take you?

#7 Edited by TheManWithNoPlan (5991 posts) -

Hmm, so far

  1. Dark Souls
  2. Strider
  3. Steamworld Dig
  4. The Swapper
  5. Gunpoint
  6. Jazzpunk
  7. Titanfall (I've played a lot of Titanfall)
  8. Infamous Second Son
  9. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow

That's all in order. I've also played up to the last few hours of The Stick of Truth, but just haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. I'll probably pick that one off soon.

@themanwithnoplan: how was strider?? I played the demo and thought it seemed alright.

#11 Posted by mosespippy (4446 posts) -

@kasumi_geist: I used to do that too but then this year I actually did it! Good luck next year. I found it easy to start the list this year because it immediately started with a sizable chunk due to Steam and PSN Holiday Sale games.

Games I've beaten this year:

  1. Ni No Kuni
  2. Sonic Racing Transformed
  3. Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing
  4. Terraria
  5. Castlevania SotN
  6. Dark Souls II
  7. Thomas Was Alone
  8. Divekick

Games I've played this year that you don't finish in a traditional sense

  1. Spelunky
  2. Lumines Electronic Symphony
  3. 10x8
  4. Ticket to Ride
  5. Minecraft
  6. Smart As...
  7. Hot Shots Golf 2

Games I've played this year that I haven't finished or finished previously

  1. Borderlands
  2. VVVVVV
  3. Sleeping Dogs
  4. Valkyria Chronicles 3
  5. Pixel Junk Eden
  6. Orion: The Dino Horde
  7. Icarus Proudbottom's World of Typing
  8. GTAV

Hmmm.... 23 games in 4 months. Might have to start something new to make that a nice round number.

Shit, ok. Well... I'll probably forget some but heres something.

Xcom Enemy Within (had beaten enemy unknown when that came out but ill still count it).

Replayed AC4,

Replayed GTA5.

Dark souls 2.

Dark souls 1 (replayed it in anticipation over a weekend almost a speed run type thing),

I made it to the first level in the temple in splunky it counts fuck you.

Bastion, finally got that and beat it, pretty good!

I think thats about it so far. Lots of replays though. I replay games alot. Dont judge!

#14 Posted by Animasta (14723 posts) -

Jazzpunk.

Does winning the English Premier League and winning the UEFA champions league count as beating FM2014? then that if so.

#15 Posted by liquiddragon (271 posts) -

Five for me. Dark Souls, Outlast, MGS V GZ, MGS 2, and Infamous Second Son.

#17 Posted by beard_of_zeus (1695 posts) -

I've been doing lists on the site for this since 2012, if you care to look:

2012 (110 games)

2013 (90 games)

2014 (20 games)

It's been a much slower year for me with regards to finishing games, been kinda busy with work and other stuff in my life. And on top of that, Dark Souls 2 has kinda been a time sink for the last month or so (around 60 hrs in and I just got to Drangleic Castle, I WILL finish it though!).

#18 Edited by BaneFireLord (2957 posts) -

Only four, I'm sad to say: Fallout 3, GTAV, Jazzpunk and Octodad: Dadliest Catch. I'm notoriously bad at finishing games.

#19 Edited by DeadpanCakes (1065 posts) -

Six:

Final Fantasy X (Dug out an old copy when Remaster came out, 'cause I'm cheap, and the nostalgia sorta made 2014 Year of the Jrpg for me)

Final Fantasy IX

Golden Sun

Nier

Super Mario 3D World

Fract Osc

Dunno how I managed to find the time to beat three Jrpg's, when the year's not even halfway done, but I somehow did. Also, I got to endgame of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, so I've actually played a lot so far this year, certainly more than I had at this point last year.

#20 Posted by HeyGuys (557 posts) -

This is the first year I've actually tried to commit to finishing a few games. It's the first time I've regularly seen credits in years.

1. DmC: Devil May Cry

2. Dark Souls

3. Assassin's Creed II

4. Batman: Arkham Asylum

5. Mass Effect

6. Dishonored

Other than Dishonored I'd say I enjoyed them all. DmC could have used a little more challenge and boss fights that were as creative from a game play perspective as they were from a presentation perspective, Dark Souls might be one of my favorite games of all time but the last third doesn't live up to what came before it and there are some serious balance issues, Assassin's Creed II is fun but repetitive and the combat is boring and simplistic, Arkham Asylum's final boss fight is super anti-climatic but I can't find much to nit-pick other than that... I guess the combat could have encouraged you to use a larger variety of tools and tactics, and Mass Effect shows its age a bit now.

#21 Posted by Hunter5024 (5964 posts) -
  1. Super Mario 3d World
  2. Dark Souls
  3. Bravely Default
  4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  5. FTL

The list of what I've missed so far is pretty short: Broken Age, Banner Saga, Dark Souls 2, South Park, Infamous, and Lightning Returns. I'm working on Lightning Returns right now. Normally I've beaten a lot more than this, but there hasn't been much that interested me this year. I hope there's some crazy stuff I don't know about yet, but this far into the year it's starting to seem unlikely.

none. come @ me?

#23 Posted by TheManWithNoPlan (5991 posts) -

@themanwithnoplan: how was strider?? I played the demo and thought it seemed alright.

As far as metroidvania games go it's pretty damn good. I had a blast with Strider and I highly recommend it if you like those kinds of games.

just last night I beat Ocarina of Time again for the billionth time. I replay too many games. But on a guess, I'd probably have beaten 20 games this year, Dark Souls was the big one.

#28 Posted by xXCrazyCostaXx (123 posts) -

@animasta: I would count sports titles if you clear some kind of season mode, like I'm almost through WWE 2k14's wrestlemania mode so I'll count that when I get there.

#29 Posted by Marcsman (3286 posts) -

GTA V

the Last of Us

Diablo III

inFamous Second Son

Assasins Creed IV

#30 Posted by SavePoint (95 posts) -

I've also been creating 'Games Completed' lists for the past few years:

2014 (18 so far)

2013 (58)

2012 (47)

#31 Posted by xXCrazyCostaXx (123 posts) -
#32 Edited by afabs515 (1326 posts) -

The number I've beaten is far less than the number in my backlog, unfortunately:

  1. Dark Souls 2
  2. Assassin's Creed IV
  3. Fire Emblem: Awakening (Hard Mode)
  4. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

...Now that I think about it, I've been too productive. I need to play more games.

@deadpancakes: Also, I keep meaning to tell you: love the profile pic. NHK is a great anime. And on topic, I love most of those games. Gotta go back and replay Golden Sun at some point. Also, Fract OSC is amazing. Got it last night and loving it.

I'll post in my list when I get to a computer but been a pretty active year for me, around 10 I think

EDIT: Starting with my what I beat at the beginning of the year:

  1. Demon's Souls
  2. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
  3. Persona 2: Innocent Sin
  4. Dust: An Elysian Tail
  5. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
  6. Battlefield 4
  7. Tomb Raider (2013)
  8. Mark of the NInja
  9. BioShock
  10. BioShock 2 and Minerva's Den
  11. Papers, Please
  12. FTL (finally!)
  13. South Park: The Stick of Truth
  14. Octodad: Dadliest Catch

14 in total, good start to the year.

#35 Posted by YI_Orange (1172 posts) -

Dark souls 2(platinumed)and octodad 2(2 player co-op) I think? Man, step it up video games. I'm working on half minute hero 2 though.

#36 Posted by redefaulted (2829 posts) -

Not very many, unfortunately. I don't know why, but I have a serious issue with completing games. Most of time I feel its because I don't want it to end. I think 99% of the time a game ends, the ending doesn't hold a candle to my expectation. Makes me want more, and makes me sad/angry the way it tied up.

The only game I can think of is Tomb Raider. I just liked playing that game a lot, for some reason.

#47 Posted by Heycalvero (117 posts) -

Well I guess in technically 2014, only Dust: An Elysian Tale, Jazzpunk and Mass Effect 3. All of which were great. I'm also up to date with The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Kentucky Route Zero and have been playing a bunch of FTL (stopping at its goddamn final boss) and Threes.

Not at all a lot considering it's been almost 5 months. It's actually good to have this reference, in my mind I had spent a lot more time playing videogames than I actually did.

If you count the last Christmas break, it would add The Last of Us, Papers Please, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Sleeping Dogs.

#48 Edited by believer258 (12188 posts) -

I've got a list sitting somewhere.

I'm not sure if I've got all of them in my head right now, but here's an incomplete list

  • Final Fantasy IV
  • Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
  • Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction
  • Metro Last Light
  • Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea (not sure if this counts but I'm putting it here anyway)
  • Fire Emblem Awakening

I know I'm forgetting some stuff but I'm not a hundred percent sure what at the moment.

EDIT: And Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

#49 Posted by cloudnineboya (845 posts) -

The last of us - twice.

GTA 5 .

Infamous second son - twice.

The walking dead and the wolf among us- episodes 2.

Killzone shadow fall-once, played a good bit of the multiplayer.

Battlefield 4 - multiplayer.

The stanley parable.

Thomas was alone.

Now starting dark souls.

#50 Edited by militantfreudian (136 posts) -

Four games; two dlc/expansion packs. I probably finished Hotline Miami at least 3 times.

Edit: I forgot that I beat Gears of War 3 early this year. I totally blocked that out.
