Hi guys,

I have this silly idea. I would like people to calculate how much you have spent on each of your current gen consoles, including Gold membership, extra controllers (excluding music but including joysticks) and stuff like extra HDD and dongles, charging stands, faceplates and whatnot.
SKIP THE COST OF GAMES AND TVs.

Here is mine:
PS3 (with 3 games) - €450
(minus the games 3x€40 = €120, €450-€120 = €330)
SF4 controllers 2x - €70
Wireless headset - €25
Total = €425 (EXCLUDING GAMES)

Well, I bought my Wii new, and have something like 15 games for it. Most second hand some new. Maybe £400 or something once you include the VC titles i've bought.

The 360 on the other hand, please dont make me add it up.

Console, then the cost to upgrade that console to an elite. Plus the 80 quid I just spent getting it repaired due to being out of warranty and not RRoD or E74.
Then I have 117 games, something like an even split second hand to new, but I buy most of my new stuff discounted or older stock. I avg about £15 per game, plus the extras I pay for new collectors editions (which I have FarCry 2, Mass Effect, Gears 1 and 2 and the plastic gold lancer, COD4 and SFIV, GTAIV, Assasins Creed and tons more)

Then I have something like 40 XBLA games.

And ontop of that I have the SFIV TE Arcade Stick so thats another £150.

Edit: Oh yeah and something like 2 years of gold membership, 2 play and charge kits, and the PC monitor I bought to play it on (not buying an HDTV yet cant afford one, this was wayyyy cheaper)

Launch 360 = $400

Extra controller = $50
Play and Charge = $20
Wireless headset = $60
3 wired headsets = $60 total
As far as gold goes....I think I've paid for 3 years = $150
Black Controller / Play and Charge combo = Free after trade in

I think that's it on the actual console...so $740

Uh, just on my 360:

20G Premium 360 (2007) - 250
(minus the games = 190, probably. But I wouldn't like to say, since game value is ever-changing. Except for CoD4...)
Extra Wireless Controller - 35
Official VGA Cable - 25
Official Wireless adapter - 60
Gold subscription in total is probably about 60
Cooler unit (That I stopped using the first time I RROD'd, since it seemed like it did jack-shit) - 20

So, altogether, about £450.

These are all aussie prices btw so like halve them or something to get the us dollar cost:

PC - At least 5 grand on games, maybe 15 grand or more on hardware upgrades over the course of oooh 12, 13 years. Lol and like at least 600 dollars spent on my wow subscription alone.
PS3  - $700 for the console with over $1000 worth of games
360  - $700 for console that came with 3 free games, bout $500 spent on separate games
PSP - $450 for console, bout $400 spent on games(all being 30 to 60 dollars less than a home console game)

Not including my pc purchases I'd say I've spent well over 4000 thousand dollars on just my console gaming in the past 4 - 5 years or since whenever the psp came out as its the first I bought of the three.
Man I'd be filthy rich if it weren't for games and I actually had the ability to save money haha. Tho I gotta also keep in mind a large portion of this was my parents money, both of whom have always had well paying jobs.

360 has been expensive.  I've gone through paying for two 360s (first one died, my brother bought it and I bought an elite) then my elite has died about four times now and is currently dead and I don't feel like paying anymore.  So I don't know... that's like $400 + $500 + maybe $300 for all repairs...  so that's $1200 for a console that doesn't even work.

PS3 $450 or so plus $100 for a 320gb 7200rpm hard drive.  $550 and it works just fine.

Elite - $450
Membership and Microsoft cards - $140
Extra Controller - $50
Games - About $900... I was going to say about $750 but then I remembered Rock Band
And I'm soon buying a wireless headset and a play and charge kit so that's another $100

That's actually a lot since I've only owned my 360 since Christmas. And since I live in Canada everything is priced a bit more than the US.

I couldn't calculate accurately, but as a rough guestimate, I'm looking at about £300 for my 360 + which came with about 10 games, £200 for my wii, and then over 50 more 360 games, and about 10 wii games. Most weren't at full price, but even if the average is £20 per game, that's £1,200 on games, so that's a total of £1,700. And If you want to include recent PC stuff (I won't include my laptop, since I didn't get it specifically for gaming, it's just a nice side thing) I've spent at least £300 on PC games, bringing the total to £2,000. Although this is a very conservative estimate. It could far far more.

this minus the headsets, so i guess $620
edit: according to giantbomb's achievement page i have played 36 games, and i probably own about 75% of those
so 27 games x 50 dollars (im guessing 50 cause probably 1/3 of the games were marked down alot) = $1350

Xbox 360 -
Year after launch, 20GB Pro console: $399
VGA Cable (damn no-HDMI units...): $39.92
     Wireless Controller: $19.99
     Netgear Wireless Bridge: $19.99
     "Official" Media Remote: $16.99
     1 Month Gold subscription: $1

Total: $496.89

Wii -
     Wii Console: $249.99
Wii Component Cable: $10.00? (Somewhere in that area)
     Wii Play w/Wiimote: $39.99

Total: $299.98

I'm not going to count the TV, since gaming was hardly the sole reason I bought it, and I game on my 22" Monitor now, anyway.

If you want to know about my handheld console purchases, I own an original DS, DS Lite, and PSP original, all bought at launch prices.

Funny how PS3 owners seem to be spending less in a lot of cases.
