The open beta starts in two days. What's the stoke-o-meter looking like for the Giant Bomb community?
P.S. My apologies for not placing this in the appropriate forum.
How stoked is your fire for Champions Online?
After playing through the beta for so long, I'm confident in the game doing well in the long run, but I'm not going to be picking it up till late down the road. Jumpgate has my eye far more.
I'm pretty stoked. I've never done an mmo before, but the look of this one interested me. I'm gonna try out the beta next week and see how I like it before I pay for anything.
I'm looking forward to the open beta. Hopefully I stick around to continue playing it, we'll have to see.
I am super stoked for this title and am eager to play an MMO again after two years of WoW. This is the MMO game I am most looking forward to outside of the iffy-dated Old Republic. When that drops maybe sometime in 2010, I'll probably abandon Champions, but until then I am really looking forward to getting my superhero groove on. I just can't play fantasy-set MMOs anymore. As for the microtransactions dispute, it depends on what they are. After all, WoW has something similar through their deal with Upper Deck Trading Cards. You buy CCG cards and sometimes you might get a rare card which has a code for a special item in game. The item is useless but people still pay big bucks for them on Ebay. On top of that there are Blizzcon items, unique pets if you bought the collector's edition and special mounts if you get a friend to join. If Champions limits real-cash items to trivial things then I am okay with it, or if items available there can be acquired through gameplay and the store is just a short cut for impatient people, then I am okay with that, too. But, if it is special costume items or weapons, then I will be soured on the game. I'm going to buy the box and play it out for the first free month then decide if I want to go farther. After all, it could suck or I could quickly lose interest like I did with Warhammer.
