How suitable is Kirby's Epic Yarn for a child?

Have never really bought a video game for a child before, but my nephew turned 6 this year and has started to take a liking to them.  Don't have a Wii myself so don't know much about the game but after that quick look recently I thought it might be a good option.  He's apparently played Super Mario Galaxy (Not sure which one) as well as some of the mini-game collections like Wii Sports fine enough to enjoy them.  How does Kirby's compare to these in terms of difficulty?  Is there much frustration or failure?
If Kirby would not be suitable, could anyone suggest some others?

I played Kirby's Epic Yarn with my four year-old niece and she absolutely loved it. She's still pretty young so she doesn't really get some of the control concepts but to her it was like watching a cartoon. I highly recommend playing it with them.

In Epic Yarn it's not possible to lose. Plus the gameplay is simple and never hard. I'd say that it's fine.

I think if he can get Super Mario Galaxy, then he should be fine gameplay-wise with Kirby. and plus who doesn't love kirby.

Which of the ones would you say is best?  Watching the quick look for the latest one now.

Don't underestimate the gaming skill of young children. My little brother just turned six and could probably beat New Super Mario Bros. (if he owned it). Kirby's Epic Yarn would make a great game for your nephew (or yourself if you ever get a Wii.)

You'll be happy to know that it's incredibly easy, forgiving yet fun at the same time. So get it.

Get it, it's insanely fun.
I played it and I nearly cried from the sheer cuteness of it all.
My lil cousin adored it and the happy sounds and colorful backgrounds are just like a cartoon for them.

Just be sure to play it yourself too, you're missing out otherwise!

But alas, they only have a Wii.

Seems a few of you know young ones who have enjoyed it, guess that solves this holiday.  Perhaps I'll look at that Rabbids one for the next, seems amusing, though a little bit tougher.

I think Kirby would be a great choice, especially due to the very low number of good kids games out there.

There is a wii version of SMB coming, just tell them you'll buy that when it comes out :).

Seriously though, Kirby is the perfect game.

You're nephew is going to have a blast with it. Especially if you play co-op. My 3 year old nephew dug the hell out of it although he wasn't quite sure what was going on. It was awesome trying to teach him the controls, but he was still way into the fact that when he hit a button something happened on screen to really care how to learn to do anything else.

Starting them down the right path young.

Common, MadWorld would be way better for kids than SMB.

Small children learn quickly, so difficulty shouldn't deter you from buying any game for him.

I don't think there's more suitable game for a six year old out there than Kirby's Epic Yarn. Go for it.

I don't see why you would ever think that Epic Yarn would be a difficult and frustrating game for your nephew.

Having been a six-year-old that played video games, even if that was 15 years ago, I can attest that difficulty is no more of a problem for children than grown people. I played a considerable amount of Donkey Kong Country when I was six, and that was way less forgiving than Kirby. But then, I played a lot of Kirby back then as well.

That is so true. I could beat half of Dynamite Headdy at that age.

This game is on the list my 9yr old nephews christmas list.  I wouldn't have hesitated on the purchase if they had the DS version he thought they did.

Everything is soft and made of yarn.  Kirby doesn't kill anything and he can't die or lose a life or fail in anyway at a level.  It is the perfect game for a child.

But Kirby has a high probability of making someone appreciate yarns, arts & crafts, and knitting, so be forewarned.
