so i'm all about the bomb i listen to the podcast, i watch the endurance run and i post on the forums but i am the only person i know who is aware of it. none of my friends have never heard of this place the nearist i'v got is some guy in the class below me put midnight brown in a monopally board he did. So are you the only one who is awere of this place or is there group of you who use the site?
how well known is giant bomb around your friends?
The only person I know kinda real who uses GB, is my LIVE mate. He was also the dude who told me about GB.
"Oh are you on that site where you listen to dumb podcasts?"
That is the extent of my friend's knowledge of this site.
I'm the only source of info other than stupid kingdom hearts or pokemon fansites (or, ugh IGN) my mates have, so I always tell them about GB but they dont visit the site.
I got a friend of mine into Persona 4 by showing him an episode of the Endurance Run. I don't know if he still watches it (probably not since he's playing the game right now). But the majority of my friends only go to IGN which is quite sad, but if it's what they like then more the power to them.
I have one friend that knows about Giant Bomb and lurks about here regularly, but everyone else I know has never heard of Giant Bomb and Luchadeer's amazing saving graces. So like the good devotee I am I plug Giant Bomb every chance I get in order to spread the word.
What really amazes me though is how many people take the big sites (GameSpot, IGN, 1up) word as gospel. How foolish those heathens are. They must be cleansed.
Out of all my friends, only two of them are seriously into games. That said, those two don't speak enough English to get on the net and talk about them, so they don't know any sites on the internet that are game-related. So basically, no one in my immediate environment knows of GB's existence.
A couple of my friends did sign up to the site, but they've since moved on. I'm the only one that's stuck around, I think.
One of my friends checks the site occasionally for editorial content, as well as for TANG, but he's not a member. Another one of my friends really doesn't check the site all that much, but he did do some wiki edits back in the day. I'm the only one who listens to the podcast though.
Some of my friends made accounts when the site launched but none of them really got active in the community. I remember the day the sight launched I was on vacation and was staying with my cousin's family and I probably used his laptop that day for 8 hours posting in the forums and editing things.
