Poll: I am thinking about watching Groundhog day, Is it worth it? (312 votes)

Yes, totally start watching that shit now 90%
NO, that movie will be a waste of time. 3%
wait until Groundhog day 8%

I have been meaning to watch that movie. I remember it being on tv many years ago and I had no interest but since then I feel like I have heard enough about it that I should give it a shot.

It was a fun movie to watch you should check it out. Then let us know your thoughts about it.

Watch it, but don't drive angry.

#4 Posted by Jayzilla (2559 posts) -

That is one of those movies that is in the "repeatably watchable" category. Watch it.

Groundhog Day is a great movie. Super funny and clever.

Not to mention it being a movie with Bill Murray in it. Watching it on Groundhog Day doesn't really add anything, so don't bother waiting until then.

Definitely my favorite comedy of all time. It's a brilliant film.

I love that movie, watch it, then watch it again

#14 Posted by joshwent (2165 posts) -

Come for the surprisingly not annoying Chris Elliott, stay for the actually funny Stephen Tobolowsky. A perfect film.

It's a hell of a movie. Enjoy.

Bill Murray is in it. That is my answer to your question.

The first half of it is pretty funny, but then it gets SUPER sappy and pretty awful.

I'm willing to bet that everyone else is either saying what they are because of nostalgia, or they have bad taste.

The last chunk of that movie is horrible! HORRIBLE!

If you're not already watching this by now I am dissapointed.

Edit: while its not the best of films to run and watch its still pretty decent but no need to wait for groundhog day

One of the greatest movies ever

Edit: one of those movies you know is pretty stupid-fun but makes you think at the end.

Meh... the writers decided it should be a love story, for some reason. Took a lot out of the movie for me.

You're wrong! That movie would be super dumb and shallow without some redemption and happiness to close it out. It's the perfect film.

I was not sure if I wanted to watch this movie or not. And considering you people come to this site too, I assume you have a similar sense of humour.

We watched it in a literature college course because somehow it is a Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy classic? Anyways, yes it's awesome.

Yes you should watch it. Although I'm not sure what you mean by worth it...is it worth the 2 hours or so it'll take you to watch it? Yes. Is it worth the 5 or 10 bucks to watch it? Yes.

Watch it then watch it again.

Man, I watched that movie over and over again...

They don't want to watch a film and form their opinion after the fact so instead they form an opinion prior to watching it with the help of a forum, effectively ruining the experience of watching a film that's unknown to them.

I've watched it for the first time quite recently, it still holds up and I enjoyed it.

#35 Edited by Irvandus (2876 posts) -

Watched it two months ago and it hasn't lost it's charm.

#36 Posted by jsnyder82 (730 posts) -

It's truly a classic. It's one of those films that, ironically, you can watch over and over again and not get bored.

#37 Posted by Akyho (1597 posts) -

Why have you not watched it yet?! Change it!!

#38 Posted by Dalai (7017 posts) -

Wait until Groundhog Day. Make it a special occasion.

#39 Posted by Ravenlight (8040 posts) -

Just listen to this episode of the Bombcast and you'll be good.

#40 Posted by Max_Cherry (1133 posts) -

I love that movie. You should watch it right now.

Dude Groundhog Day holds up incredibly well. So does most of Bill Murray's stuff actually.

Are you telling me you just go watch movies blind without ever looking at a review or asking a friend what he thinks of it prior or post his viewing of said movie? I highly doubt that I am in the minority in this, especially since we are having this discussion on a site that mainly trades on its staff's opinion to pre-released games. I guess everybody here (you included) are lazy and dont want to form any opinions related to games. And before you tell me that quicklooks are more equivalent to trailers, consider this, a trailer is what someone on staff thinks represents the movie or worse, will attract the most people. It is that persons opinion of the movie that also projects the same onto the people who now have "ruined the experience". I guess we should all just buy games and movies blindly and go "LALALALA" anytime anyone even tries to suggest we rent a copy of the lion king.

Bill Murray at his funniest.

Anytime in your life you are thinking about making a decision, make sure you stop, and consult the internet first. You'll thank me later ^_^

One of the best comedies made in the last 20 years.

#47 Posted by ShaggE (6415 posts) -

If it has Bill Murray, it is worth watching. Rule of thumb right there.

#48 Posted by Atlas (2435 posts) -

I watched it for the first time a couple of months ago. Was OK, clever premise but not particularly funny to me.

#49 Posted by Kidavenger (3530 posts) -

I think this film works best if you watch it immediately following a viewing of Deliverance.

#50 Posted by Butano (1731 posts) -

It's a movie about my birthday, over and over and over again. How can I hate it?
