Does anyone else agree? Border ads are fine. But these interactive ones that Pop up and talk to me and...... yuk yuk yuk.
I have nothing against advertisement, but these last few have been extremely annoying.
I don't like the new intrusive ads.
It has nothing to do with ad blocking. More of a decision in Ad design. bah forget it.It is but with ad revenues way down it is a buyers market and buyers want this type of interactive placement. That and site skins seem to be the most popular everywhere atm. No point doing inoffensive banners if they don't pay anything.
If you really can't live with it then you have two easy options to be rid of them - the virtuous (membership) and the cheap (adblocker).
This.People really need to stop replying to ad threads with "just subscribe man". He obviously can't/doesn't want to subscribe right now, so it's nice that he's giving feedback on what sort of advertisements they should use and what they shouldn't.
I've seen them in the few times I've been on the site and not on my account. They're definitely not great and I can totally see why you'd not like them, but they're not that bad as far as I'm concerned. That kind of pop-up thing at the bottom seems to be getting popular across sites, though, so what can you do.

This, too, however there's something to be said about "stop making fucking ad threads."
If you read the blog on whiskey media main site, they are trying out several comapnies and are listening to the feedback from non members so you should hit dave up with a PM to let him know that you feel this company sucks and they should go with one of the other less offensive ones... or you could get a subscription which I would higly reccomend because it was fucking awesome before but now emember have an embiggen button on videos :)
I didn't mean to imply that I couldn't live with it. Its not even really a problem. I guess my original tone was not what I was trying to say. Really it was more being objective on how the style of ads on the site has really changed lately. I know one of them, I think it was an insurance company ad, was in the way on the left hand side. I know I was trying to navigate around the page and i kept mousing over it long enough to play the video and pausing what I was watching. It just got me thinking about how the ad tech has changed and how I really preferred it the older way when were I had to make a decision to follow on something i found interesting instead of being so "Interactive"
Subscribtions seem to help get rid of the ad, try that. Not that it worked for me, I never saw any ads to begin with
@cobble75: blow it out your assHow rude

I am not talking about getting rid of ads. Just the style of them. This post has nothing to do with signing up for a subscription or even being uspet about the ads in the first place. If I wasn't clear about that I apologize.Subscribtions seem to help get rid of the ad, try that. Not that it worked for me, I never saw any ads to begin with
First off, I have no money to spend right now. I'm an unemployed college student.
Second, I'm not against ads in general, GB needs cash. For that reason, I disabled AdBlocker on this site. But recently I've really been considering turning it back on. The most annoying are the ads that pop up on the bottom of the window, and every once in a while I'll just barely miss the "x" button and instead click the ad, which means I have to WAIT FOR THE AD TO LOAD before I can exit out of it. The whole thing seems like the type of intrusive ad that I thought they said they wanted to avoid.
Third, FAIL FRIDAYS?!?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! I don't want to see some ugly internet bloggers face silently blabbing about FAIL FRIDAYS next to my video. (This is a pretty petty complaint, but I hope they get rid of that particular ad. It drives me nuts.)
If they don't get rid of the bar that comes up at the bottom of the window, I suppose I'll have to enable AdBlocker.
(And yes, as soon as I get some cash, I fully intend to reapply for a membership.)
@skyline7284: I agree. I'm a subscriber but I've seen pictures of what Giant Bomb looks with ads and I don't want to be there.
