Part of me just wants to experience the game. The more logical part of me tells me the game sucks. I didn't love the demo but the pull to purchase is so strong.
I know Duke Nukem sucks but i still want to buy it!!!
That's exactly how I felt.
So I did.
Then I played it for 2 hours, and couldn't stomach any more.
There's no enjoyment from this game. Not even ironic "lol this is bad" enjoyment. The appeal of playing the game for the mystery and because of its history fades fast.
It's like being someone who enjoys bad movies because they're so bad, so you decide to watch a shit comedy like Meet the Spartans, thinking it'll be so bad it's good.
You'd be wrong.
I reckon it's a decent game, and I am not a Duke fanboy.
Yeah, the graphics are stuck in another era, but some environments and characters look pretty good, and the gameplay is fun. It is just an old school shooter at heart. I don't think it is as bad as most believe; I would give it a 7/10 if I was reviewing it.
But it's true, it would be worth waiting until it's cheaper.
Worth it as long as you take it for what (and when) it is. Ive played a lot worse games. Theres still a few nice ideas stuck in there somwhere, the idea of teh EGO unlock system was kinda interesting for example.
buy the pc version, if you can. It is clearly the only version that seems playable because of horrendous load times.
I've played games I feel with worse animations made within the last 2 years, I may be crazy but I don't know. It has problems, but it isn't as boring as Ryan made it sound in the quicklook.
@ApolloBob: It's true that you vote with your money, but I also need to play this game. Some may say i should pirate a copy, but i can't justify doing that on moral grounds(i don't look down on others, its personal).
