Hey guys, recently I've been looking for a certain type of game. I don't even know if there is a game out there that fits what I'm looking for, but I thought that maybe I should post what it is that I'm looking for and maybe someone knows of a game that would fit the requirements.

I've been itching for a game that is

an open-world rpg (swords and bows not guns)

that has a survival element in it (sort of like the hunger and thirst stuff in DayZ, but it's not greatly important. I can do without those)

I don't want to be some sort of chosen one thing (I want to be sort of ordinary. I'm getting tired of being the great chosen guy in games, the one who is destined to save the world or something. It gets tiresome after playing a bunch of games where you are the hero.)

I want it to be a sandbox environment, but that's kinda covered in the open world thing though

I would add a lot more, but I doubt that I would find a game that covers all of my wants. I think that what basically sums it up is a fantasy swords and bows DayZ game without the zombies and add some npc's in there. Please if you know of any game that would match some of what I've described above let me know, this itch is bothering me so much I can't even play other games since I keep feeling that it's just not the game I want to play.

Not fantasy but i love STALKER Call of Pripyat. Though it is only on PC.

@FluxWaveZ: hmmm I thought about Dark Souls, but it just looks too dark-ish for me and lonely.

How about Mount & Blade games? Not sure how much of RPG elements those have though

don't know what games you've all played, but Skyrim is an obvious suggestion if you haven't played it (sort of "chosen" one, but in reality you don't have to be a good guy at all if you don't want to or even focus on either story). There's also Dragon's Dogma, but i haven't played that one although i have been interested in it since the quick look.

Krater is another pretty good , I've enjoyed my time with it.  It's essentially an open world rpg, it does have some guns however =(

Edit: Dragon's Dogma is pretty good as well, but you also end up being the hero the entire time.

The Fallout series seems great with the survival mode but doesn't meet your no guns rule.

I would've said The Last Story, had you not specified the sandbox elements.

Sadly you will probably not find a game like this in a fantasy setting. Survival is pretty much exclusively equated with post-apocalyptic scenarios and/or zombies.

The only way you might get to play that game is if you come up with your own rules or restrictions (i.e. don't buy any equipment, rely on what you find) while playing Skyrim.

Best bet is Skyrim with a hunger mod, or one of the more advanced rogue-likes (if you don't care about graphics).

Fallout New Vegas with hardcore mode enabled?

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I was pretty sure that there wouldn't be a game to suit all of my wants, but I am having a lot of fun with Mount and Blade right now. But as some of you guys said I will probably have to impose certain restrictions in some game to get the feel that I am going for. Thanks for all of the help.
