I tripped over my upright xbox 360 today and totally destroyed gears of war, there is a big scratch around the disk. Has any one else done this?

"Rowr said:I honestly think it has a lot to do with luck."standing it upright is the prevention for rrod overheating. How does that help from overheating?
drinking heavily around it doesnt help though
"
by doing that you block one of the vents that air comes in and escapes from.

I still have my original Xbox 360 and I never kept it in really open spaces or anything and I've had it standing up an on it's side. Never had a RROD once.
I don't imagine anyone is stupid enough to go through 5 xbox 360's considering how easy it is to prevent overheating.

Stood up, the air can run through it. That makes sense doesnt it?

You can always try to buy a used one sometimes they have them for 30bucks =)
"Call Microsoft. They replace first party games. You just have to make up a Bullshit story about how your Xbox 360 started making weird grinding noised while you were playing Gears of War and when you took the disc out it was all scratched up. Or something like that :P"serious? yeh i might give that a try. Couldnt hurt.
I will reply to the "has anyone else done this" part of your post. Yes I have and miraculously, the game kept playing, not only that but I picked it back up and set it back upright (it fell upside down by the way) and continued to play, this was all during an online match too!
lol that sucks, that's why i always leave my consoles above ground. of course, they could fall (been there, done that, ps2 - lucky enough it kept working ok, but my floor got some markings on it lol)
yeah i did that to my halo 3 copy on accident but the funny thing is if i put it in just the right way it reads it and it works fine
