Minimalism is big
Xbox U Up Your Ass
They'll call it the new Xbox until the 360 runs it's course and than simply refer to it as the Xbox.
I predict that the next Xbox is going to be called something that a lot of people will come on the forums and complain about.
I really don't care what they call it. The Bombcast seems to think they will just call it the Xbox, but with all the market confusion we've seen around the Wii U I'm not convinced about it. That confusion might be more associated with the way the Wii U controller was over emphasized in the marketing while the console was hidden, but I still think that Microsoft will want to add something to make the name unique.

The only answer.
I'm pretty sure that name is copyrighted by Rogers Telecommunication in Canada.
man if it really did end up looking that ridiculous I would be on board.
Wasnt that the original design for the Xbox? I remember Team Ninja throwing that thing in their games as random easter eggs.
And i'm with everyone who thinks 'Xbox Live' would confuse people. As dumb as Xbox Infinity sounds I could imagine getting used to saying it.
It's got vents, it must be real.
X-Box 360 Trinity.
Why? Because they're will have completed Playstations logo shapes: X=X, Box=Square, 360=Circle and Trinity=Triangle. And Trinity represents 3 so it all makes sense.
@boozak: It was an official Microsoft picture but I don't think it was ever supposed to be a real design. I think it was more of a cool concept image.
If we're serious about this for a minute we can come to a couple obvious conclusions.
1. Brand Awareness: The Xbox 360 is not known as the MICROSOFT Xbox 360; the Xbox portion carries the weight of recognition, so it absolutely has to stay. Over the past several years, "playing Xbox" has become the generic phrase for playing any videogame, just as "playing Nintendo" was for most of our lives. It will be called Xbox ____.
2. Brand Confusion: There cannot be any wordplay or reference to 360. Nintendo has shown us all that you have to push a new name or the average consumer will be confused (their overall marketing was also a huge problem, but that's another discussion for another day). As such, it cannot be called Xbox 365 or Xbox Live.
3. Competition: It cannot be called Xbox 3. This creates confusion with the 360 name and is a smaller number than the 4 that Sony is pushing (personally, I thought Orbis was kind of a cool name). I realize that a product seeming inferior because it has a smaller number attached to it than a competing product is asinine, but the average consumer is asinine.
So where does that leave us? Well, Xbox Infinity is probably the front runner of everything I've seen. Sure, it's a boring name, but it's not confusing. It suggests an entirely new product with a wide range of functionality, limitless functionality, in fact. We already know that Microsoft wants to continue to expand media applications and this name fits well with that. The biggest downside is that the name is very generic and infinity gets attached to the next big thing on a daily basis.
Those are my two cents.
