If you could have one video game convenience in real life...

What would it be?

I think I'd have to go with quest logs. I'm super disorganized and I've been trying to keep a to-do list but I always forget to add to it and update it. It would be great to have that all happen automatically.

Clear leveling up. Not really a fan of grinding Japanese and then not seeing any results. I WANT A BAR THAT FILLS UP, DAMN IT!

Quick Travel would be pretty sweet.

A save system. If I could save and reload at any time in my life I'd be pretty damn happy.

Of all the things to choose, you chose quest logs? That's something that you could very easily make a reality with a pen, a piece of paper, and a little bit of self-discipline.

I'd probably choose quicksave/quickload. It'd be nice to know that I could just reload if I fucked something up or made a mistake or something.

Eh, I was trying to think of something that would be less reality shattering than most things but I will admit saving/loading never crossed my mind.

That all depends on if you remember everything you do after you revert to a previous save. If it follows game logic, you would lose everything you did, hence making your plan impossible. You have to realize that you would be the character in this situation, not the player. So if you revert to an older save, you would only know everything you've done up to that save.

I took "video game convenience" as things the player experiences when playing a game and not the character. So I would have the memory of what happened after I saved and then reloaded.

Definitely the ability to save whenever I want and reload from that moment.

a trainer so i can boost the stats that i want, and what not. i know that not what your talking about but still, if that does not count the a save/load process

i wold classify new game plus a a reincarnation more then rebirth. Buddism dont belive in reincarnation well unless you a highly developed spiritual practitioner.

Not really. Quite a few games take place over several years without characters leveling up in correlation to their ages (Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy VI, just about any Fire Emblem game (but 4 especially)).

Those are pretty different things though. One is a measure of time and one is a measure of progress. Unless you are measuring the progress of your life. That's pretty different than seeing a bar fill up as you read or work out.

Questing! Having people come up to me with jobs all the time, wherever I went. I talk to someone and they have a job and I get money at the end of each one and a cool item. I would never be poor again. I might be missing a few limbs but I wouldn't be poor.

Yea, if I could remember what happened after my last save then quicksave/quickload would be great. If not, I'd go for regenerating health or extra lives.

I'm going to say fast travel.

Reloading and infinite lives are interesting (and in some senses better), but I'm not sure they fit with the spirit of an in game convenience function.

Being able to eat and drink simply by touching food and beverages.

Better trophies/achievements.

Nothing is worse than playing a game, beating it and then only getting a handful (looking at you BF3). Wish Multi and Campaign had separate lists too, never touch multiplayer.

Punching walls and getting fully cooked chickens.

Fast Travel.

Portal Gun, not only can you use it for fast travel, breaking and entering, getting the tv remote without standing up, and traveling to the moon, but it also makes auto-fellatio so much easier.
