...What would it be?
I have thought about this scenario quite a bit recently, and I finally came to the conclusion that I would choose the Wii. There are several reasons, the first being the first-party Nintendo game, you know, your Marios, your Zeldas. The second being the Virtual Console, aha, see I found a loop hole. Third: GameCube backward compatibility. The GC is a sadly underrated console, and one of my favorites ever, so access to it's great library of games is an awesome bonus. The Wii overall has the largest availability of games, between WiiWare, VC, and GameCube games.
Edit: No, PC is not a console, you'd be able to keep that as well.
What about you guys?
If you could only use one console for the rest of your life...
Probally the xbox360 because it's like a low mid range pc with a controller. I don't own that console btw, however I like the games for it.
I'd choose PS3, but what happens when technology progresses and I'd pretty much still be playing games on an antique?
360. It has everything I like. My favourite Mega Drive games on XBLA and that badly constructed but well emulated Mega Drive collection by Backbone. The 360 has some of the best fighters such as MvC2 and KOF98. As for games made for the system, it includes long, deep games that I can replay like Fallout 3.
My second choice would have to be the PS2 for its insane variety.
Is this to say that no games will be coming out in the future for either platform?
If so, probably the 360 because it has a much larger back catalog of games than the PS3.
If not, it's would be impossible to say because you'd have no idea what is coming in the future. I guess still the 360, because if the newer games did suck I'd still have a large library to choose from.
360, then I could put XNA games on it and such and make my own games for the 360 long after it's dead.
" It really depends on which company you have the most faith in to release great games. Which is why I picked Nintendo. "I get it. Funny.
Hmm I'm torn between the PS3 with backwards compatability and Wii with its Virtual Console/WiiWare/GC support.
I'd have to say...PS3.
I was debating between 360 and a PS2 but when I saw backward compatible PS3 the option was obvious it would be like the best of both worlds.
I'd have to go with a ds lite. Only reason i'd choose lite over the dsi is for the additional gba support, which opens up the mario and sonic advance games. Between those, the plethora of great ds rpgs, mario kart, phoenix wright/broken sword type stuff, and friggin pokemon, i'd be set for life.
My penis because I never get bored of it. It's also easy to boot and shut down. Although there's no Virus protection.
My PS3 because I love the media player component of the system. I use it just as much as a Blu-Ray/DVD and streaming from PC device as a game platform. And, my particular PS3 has full b/c so all the PS1 & PS2 games can be played on it in addition to PS3 titles.

So it has all the things you listed about the wii, except it has good games. Why not pick the ps3?

A toss up between the 360 and the PS3.
I think the 360 has a larger back catalog of games to entertain me, while the PS3 has the longer technological legs.
I think the 360 might just edge it out as I'm one of the few people who still LOVES Rare.
If Viva Pinata 3 or Nuts and Bolts 2 came out and I couldn't play it, I don't know what I'd do.
