Until he sold the whole kit and caboodle to Disney, I'd never know Lucas to sell anything which could potentially make him richer. I doubt he would have sold the franchise license to a game company and give up all of that merchandising, cartoon, movie, t-shirt, etc...money.
I would say Sonic but the idea of knowing in advance it won't suck is pretty profound in this case since there are a billion ways to get it wrong. Not suck, meaning what? It could not suck but that doesn't mean I'll like it.
We all know that video game movies don't usually fare too well, but if you knew a video game movie wouldn't suck what video game would you want to see made into a movie? My first choice would be Wolfenstein.
Jackle, you know that old nintendo game where two players drive keeps mounted with machine guns, don't ask me how but if they could turn that into a great movie, I'd be happy.
A full length feature by the Blizzard CG team (with story/character support from Pixar?), as compelling beginning to end as their typical cutscenes. Would prefer the Diablo universe.
That or maybe something from the old point and click line, properly resurrected. Sam and Max, Grim Fandango, Loom.
Something like this but with some assistance by Valve, they make some awesome animation too.
If I knew it would be good? Chrono Trigger. Though maybe that would work better as a short anime, I definitely couldn't see it being live action. It would also be interesting to see the world of Final Fantasy 6 brought to life visually because we've only ever seen it in sprite form, that could work in live action I think. It's kind of hard to say which would be the most interesting, because the ones I like the most already have good stories and the best I could hope for is for them not to lose what makes them special in the translation between mediums.
I would've thought Max Payne but that movie sucked ass, they didn't even have to do much work except rip off the script and they fucked that up. Terrible, terrible movie
I always wanted a good Halo movie, but Halo Forward Unto Dawn was enough for me, though it is technically not a movie, I think it is still the best game movie to date.
Halo, only because there's so much crazy CG-ness and techno-magic that would have to go into just making Spartans look accurately bad-ass and capable (not evening mentioning all the other stuff) that to be good it would have to look like nothing I've ever seen.
Basically if there's one thing that movies haven't really been able to do yet, it's making people with super-powers look awesome and realistic. The Marvel ones are almost there.
@jakob187: I guess I did. I thought I might have seen something about that somewhere, just thought it would never come to fruition or didn't give any thought to it.
