If you thought that $/£/€ 15 for 5 maps was too much...

There was a lot rumbling on t'internet when the Stimulus Package for MW2 was pegged for 15 bones. BC2 will join in on the fun when they release this tomorrow

440 MS points seems like a serious rip for new skins, the only saving grace is some new achievements. In the States, that Dr. Pepper promotion can get you it for free but if you live elsewhere, this really is too much.

The difference is that these don't split the playerbase the way maps do. I am still a BC2 fanboy, sorry.

Um, this isn't even comparable to charging for maps. The reason people get annoyed with maps is because charging for maps can potentially split a community between the people that buy the maps and the people that don't. Since many games start to include the maps in regular rotation, people that don't purchase maps can get kicked out of games/servers. Not only that but maps are effectively a part of the game (a key component of the multiplayer game no less) while skins definitely are not. In other words I'd much rather have free maps and paid skins (I just won't buy them) because it's the maps that I care about.

This is pretty shitty but I do agree with people who say that maps can split the community etc however its not that big a deal to just get a new game/server almost instantly in pretty much any online game. As usual Bungie (I'm not huge on the Halo multiplayer) lead the field in matchmaking this way as I believe some of the playlists in Halo 3 are specifically for players who don't have the map packs. This was the case anyway.

Yeah this seems more like overpriced cosmetic changes. If you dont want em, dont get em and keep playing unaffected.

But Dice is still offering its Map Packs for free. We're at a point where companies have to generate money all the time. Thank god Dice doesn't think like that.

Cosmetics are a totally different ball-game in my opinion.

I think the price is completely fair. 5 bucks isn't much for a few skins and new acheivements.  I also didn't complain about the 5 dollars per map in MW2.  But I'll have you know I didn't buy them either.

You could also use the Dr. Pepper codes, making the total for all of the skins about 8 dollars.
