First their review they said Mercenary mode is not online in Resident Evil 5, however they were wrong. Then they said Gametrailers.com had interviewed an Id guy saying Rage will not come this year. However I listened to it multiple times, the id guy Todd said "Aaaaa... no, we'll be out this year".
Daym, what does that mean? This is even worse then what Game Spot had done.
IGN lost it

"If you were going to bring up a title with "IGN lost it" you might as well talk about the soccer management game. It got reviewed as a 9.0 by a UK reviewer, and 2.0 by an American one. That's what mistakes are made of."well that makes sense UK like soccer US hates soccer

IGN still does good editorials, but despite all of the work they have done on their site it still is kind of crap. Especially when you use their search option. Often times I takes forever just to find the page for the game i'm looking for. Not to mention most of the writers are rumor mongers. "HALO DS WAZ REALLZ!! KID ICARUS AT E3!!!!!"
Reviewers rarely have anything. I haven't particularly trusted any reviewer for over a decade. Never trusted any fully.
IGN is especially bad these days, I agree. They said Orange Box's version of Half Life 2 on Xbox 360 was actually a port of the Xbox 1 version (completely factually wrong).
There seems to be a lot of people working at IGN that are completely incompetent and really shouldn't be employed in games at all. They don't play the games, they don't know about games.
"Milkman said:They are also entitled to make the occasional error. They are human after all."OMG! You mean IGN made TWO factual errors?! THAT'S ALMOST THREE!When you get paid to inform, you should not know less about the subject matter than those you are supposed to be informing."Seriously, they made a mistake. Oops. Who cares?"
GameRadar is also saying the Mercenaries mode is not online - that's two sites. Wait until the game is out before you attack them...if you're correct on Friday, then you can attack them.
"GameRadar is also saying the Mercenaries mode is not online - that's two sites. Wait until the game is out before you attack them...if you're correct on Friday, then you can attack them."I've seen a guy play it online already.
Perhaps it isn't matchmaking/server joinging but you have to invite someone to a game?
OLD!
IGN lost it like 6 years ago when they fired David Smith and Dave Z left for Visual Concepts. The guys they have doing reviews are either leftovers from the PC section or really annoying fanbois who were friends of friends of long time IGN staffers. The PS3 guys they have are really dorky fanbois into the whole "make funny faces for my blog pic" kiddie nonsense. The RE5 review is simply laughable.

You know....that's how this site was started.
Granted, kayne and lynch's review wasn't terrible, but gerstmann did underrate it. It's actually a pretty fun game, not super special though.
This IGN guy is just wrong though.
Still, one screw up shouldn't cause such a huge fuss. Constant though, yes.

"TheHBK said:Yeah I know this is how we got here, but that game did suck and was crappy. Just some people are into that kinda stuff but come on, there is a difference between giving a game a 6.5 and a fucking 2. That puts it in the area of Big Rigs! Do you really think any game deserves to be treated like that? If jeff had given Kane and Lynch a 2 then we would have different opinions."Vinchenzo said:Come on, he shouldn't lose his job because of a bad review. You know....that's how this site was started.Granted, kayne and lynch's review wasn't terrible, but gerstmann did underrate it. I rarely ever go to IGN these days. The site is complicated and slow to load. There are much better high profile sites out there.
I don't mind IGN so much, except the site design. I haven't personally come across anything that I didn't care for. But I don't use the site too much, mainly just listen to their podcasts.
I read Dave moan about the site design on Twitter, had to agree with him aswell. That site is so confusing and squashed together that it looks simply a mess.
