Can you play mods? Can you freely tweak and fine tune features of games via .ini files (for example, removing the outer borders of Fallout 3 and Oblivion) and the like to make the game more open? Can you edit, create, and share maps and custom models with others? Where is the user generated content? How much does OnLive cost? Is it seriously more affordable than tossing a $130 video card in your average dual-or-quad-core desktop system? Because it sounds like it'd be just as effective, less so with a mediocre internet connection.

Edit: I'll even add more reasons this entire concept is bullshit. How can we seriously depend on them being able to maintain maximum speed with a giant cloud of computers? There would have to be constant, long periods of maintenance to defragment and update the drivers of these systems. Not only that, but there will surely be a long queue to use this service, as if it takes off there'll be loads of people trying to connect to a limited supply of computers.
