In light of this news, does the site continue?

Not to be cold, but I have been thinking about this ever since I heard the news. With Ryan gone, Dave leaving and Tricky in Chi-town...does Giant Bomb continue to exist? Can Giant Bomb continue to exist without one of the core members?

I won't make this an answerable question because well...it can't really be answered by anyone bar the main crew. But I want to know what the community thinks.

I wouldnt imagine so. With Dave gone, Patrick/Alex living elsewhere in the country, Vinny being a dad, and Ryans tragic passing, I can't see how things will carry on. Very sad

@residentrevil2: @dungbootle: Believe me, I really, really want the website to continue. But I always felt that Ryan was the anchor for the insane shit that went on at Giant Bomb. Probably on account of him always hosting. It feels like the destiny of Giant Bomb is more unclear than it has ever been, even during the CBSi takeover.

If it does end, I will have no other place to go. I've tried other gaming sites, but nothing compares to Giant Bomb.

The end definitely seems to beginning. It hurts but it seems true.

I'd like to think they'll push on. While Ryan can never be replaced, I feel as if GiantBomb has grown enough that they could hire someone to do quick looks and sit in on podcasts. While it's doubtful that they'd have the same rapport the current staff has which is part of what makes content so awesome, I can't imagine they'd have to look far to find someone to do the work.

Maybe that's part of Ryan's legacy is that he's helped build something great in GiantBomb that even though he's gone, people care enough about the site that it can carry on.

It's a troubling and comforting fact of life, that no human being is irreplaceable.

This is the only game site I have ever enjoyed other than GameSpot (when everyone was still there). If this site goes, I will be lost.

Hell yeah it continues! I FUCKING LOVE GIANT BOMB and so did Ryan, he would hate for it to close down! No offence but what a silly question.

@wuddel: @c0v3rt: I guess it all falls to Jeff to host and stuff. On the - very minor - plus side, we may see more Drew and Matt Rorie in videos and podcasts.

Obviously no one can really know what the guys decide to do, but I personally feel that Ryan's slavish dedication to the site, creating content, and the Bombcast almost means that the best way to honor him would be to continue making the site bigger and bigger. It's clear that it was just as much his baby as Jeff's, and I hope the guys can manage to continue without him because it really is a great thing they've all created.

Yes. It will continue. With both Ryan and Patrick gone, they will need to hire someone else. Which means Giant Bomb will change, maybe for the worse or maybe not for the worse.

This is kinda soon, and kinda tacky to be asking these questions.

Sorry but I don't think this is an appropriate topic for right now. Questions of 'will the site continue' or 'should there be content' et al should be shelved for the time being. I totally understand the need for people to bring up questions like these but this is the time to remember Ryan.

The show must go on as they say. Brad already tweeted that they are back in the office and would just go crazy being at home, so I don't see these guys stopping. Also I really don't think Ryan would wan't them to stop because of his passing. Ryan and the guys have turned this site into one of the best if not the best gaming sites on the internet. Ryan would probably want then to continue on making the great content they always have.

I honestly don't know. I think Ryan would have absolutely wanted Giant Bomb to go on and thrive, but something like this is hard to come back from, I'd imagine.

I'm surprised by how pessimistic everyone is in light of everything Giant Bomb has been through to get to where it is today. People don't just give up whatever life they were living when stricken with grief. It's hard to move forward, but time (more often than not) heals these wounds. For some of us, this site was just a great site about video games, but I'm fairly sure it was a lot more to the duders manning the helm. I don't think they're in a situation where they can or will just stop being Giant Bomb.

Yes. Life is change and these are a talented group of guys. Will it be the same? No. But I'm down for whatever they choose to do.

If it goes down, then it goes down. I would love if it keeps going but understand if it doesn't.
I would imagine Ryan cursing up a storm if it happens though and he would haunt every single person on the plant and then just end the fucking planet while saying "You fucking losers, you guys suck so hard"

Of course it will, don't be stupid. They wouldn't DARE to just give up because of this, Ryan would haunt them forever. They will continue and they will make it through this. But the GB community needs to back them up, understand that there probably wont be a podcast or much content on the site on the next few weeks.

Ryan Davis helped to build not only the best website on the internet, but one of the most closely knit communities as well. If every member the GB staff died because some idiot put them all on the same helicopter, the community would find a way to make it live on!

I love Ryan but you guys are overestimating his role on the site. How many reviews did he write in 2012? Like 5? In all of the treads where we have discussed content people tended to agree that Ryan did the least amount of it. Also Ryan would hate to see Giant Bomb fall and Jeff would too. Also to the person that said that a new guy wouldn't have the same rapport as they do now then what do you think of Patrick? Giant Bomb will live on.

I really, really hope so. This site is a major part of my daily life and I'm not sure what I'd do without both the site and the Bombcast still existing. It won't be the same without that magnificent bastard though.

It will continue. The thought the site will end is just pure ignorance. Look at game company's. Ifinity Ward is not the same people.
