I was surprised that no one had mentioned anything about this yet, so I have decided to share it. I personally am very interested in the indie game scene and this entire idea just makes me excited.

Indie Game: The Movie is a feature documentary about video games, their creators and the craft.  It examines independent game developers as a way to understand the medium and the theory behind video games. Throughout, the film focuses on the human side of the creative process, and the connections between game and game-maker.

Now to paraphrase some of the remaining paragraphs on the site. This idea came around while the filmmakers spent some time in GDC-09, where they met and shot an interview of Alec Holowka. James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot (the filmmakers) have since setup up a Kickstarter page for the documentary that completely obliterated all of their expectations.

BlinkWorks have released a bunch of preview videos. Here a few of them, however I highly recommend watching them all.

Can we expect a simultaneous-release video game tie-in?

@MarkWahlberg:  The filmmakers should pick up the Game Dev Story license.

@HitmanAgent47: Just to clarify, you do know that it is not a movie based on video games, alongside a storyline and a script. It's a documentary about the indie devs, and their games.

I'm not that into indie games in general, but the Super Meat Boy video interests me enough that I'll keep an eye on this movie.
