I've been really struggling about this new PC I am about to build.  I have a core 2 duo 2.66 with a 4870.  I have my mind set on a 5870.  When it comes to the cpu I keep going back and forth between the i7 860 and the i7 920.  right now I am leaning towards the 920 I have found some pretty good deals plus I like to tinker with my PC's.  Just looking for any opinions and suggestions

The 920 is the standard high end processor right now. Not only is it great bang for buck, it's easily overclockable as well. It also goes along with the faster DDR3 memory, and LGA 1366 mobos (the ones that 920 but not 860 uses) will be compatible with i9 released later on.

@Geno: Oh, so the 1366 boards will allow me to upgrade to a better cpu in the future.  I think I might be sold

Right, so while it's a bit more expensive now you'll get superior performance and easier upgradeability in the future.

@Geno: Thanks for the help.  I will be getting a 920 with an ASUS P6T mobo.  Once again thank you
