As the title suggest, I have noticed that ALOT of the old staff have come forward to this website, so is this the old gamespot that we all use to love? I have been a member to this site for a while but only recently REALLY started to use it alot, really enjoy using the Site. I think its very fast, very slick and very easy to navigate and I love the whole HTML5 format and it does bring back a bit of nostalgia from the old site, if I could request one (well 2) things for this website, that is marathons, much like the old 12 hour marathon that was done with Skyrim by Greg Kasavin, and of course Greg him self coming to this site would be great!
Are there alot of old die-hard gamespot fans here? (Is it even right to mention gamespot on this iste? : / ) Just curious to see, I know gamespot has changed ALOT since all the good staff left. How often do you guys use this website? Do you do alot of editing? I want to start getting into it but need to get to grips on the whole site first before I start digging into that.
But yeah, just posting just to see how you guys like the site? Not sure how long its been around for but I love it and hope it stays does nothing but get better : )
Is Giantbomb the new old gamespot?
" No. Giant Bomb is the Giant Bomb. "Thank you. Giant Bomb is not the old this or the new that. It is and forever will be it's own thing.
Yes I was a die hard Gamespot and stopped following the site after the shift of staff.
But I'm not following Giantbomb because it consists of old gamespot people. I follow Giantbomb because it's a really unique concept with the wiki pages and great work with quick looks and other means to show us the games.
So as Axxol said.
Giant Bomb is not the new old Gamespot.
It's the Giant Bomb.
No, Giantbomb is it's own unique thing. Sure, a lot of the old Gamespot staff are working there, but the video content is completely different, more informal and impromptu, I almost like it better than old Gamespot. Plus, Greg Kasavin, Bob Colayco, Bryan Ekburg, Rich Gallup, Carrie Gouskos etc. were just as important in making Gamespot what is was.

", if I could request one (well 2) things for this website, that is marathons, much like the old 12 hour marathon that was done with Skyrim by Greg Kasavin, and of course Greg him self coming to this site would be great! "1) I think you meant Oblivion
2) Greg is developing his own game called Bastion, so the short answer is no he won't be working here.
much like the old 12 hour marathon that was done with Skyrim by Greg KasavinGreg was WAY ahead of time back then. Way ahead.
It's not the new old Gamespot in style, but you'll see a lot of your old favorites around, and some of the old features have been adopted and expanded upon.
Plus, as a former 1UPper, I love the stuff they've done with Jeff Green. Hope he keeps coming back.
" I came here when 1up died, which was about the same time as gamespot. "I too am a 1up refugee. I'm liking it here and I don't see my myself going to any other gaming site any time soon.
Sure i might look at Joystiq for news and peep around 1up to what's going on, but I call Giant Bomb home.
I was happy to see Ryan Macdonald and Jody Robinson *swoon* on TNT Thursday...wish they coulda hung out and chatted it up more would have liked to see MacDonald play some VS with Jeff. That would have been eventful.
The GS moderation in the community was terrible though, if you ask me. GB seems to have more an appreciation for a sense of humor which makes it it's own thing to me.
" @Omega said:It's a HotSpot reference. If you don't get it, your probably better off." @Danbo said:I don't understand what you're trying to say here? Am i being mocked without realising it? "" Giant bomb is one thing only: The Shit. "I think you mean "Gaming for me is a religion, and Giant Bomb is the shit!" "
Just know that Jonathan Davis and Korn are douche bags and Haze was an awful game.
I loved the old GS I remember I started going to the site in 01 and then I left after what happen with Jeff GB doesnt feel like the old the GS its feels less corprate which is what you would wish for it seems like they definitely have more fun on here of course. But I do miss some of the other GS staff that's doing there own thing these days it would be cool to if they had a reunion of sorts.Greg K to this day is still my favorite reviewer of all time the way he talked about games you could tell he has a real general love for it.But anyways I'm so glad GB exist they feel like family in a weird way I been listening to them so long there the best no doubt.

It is similar, just without the horrendous haircuts and monotonous video commentary. It's just better IMO.
You just reminded me of that when you said that Giant Bomb was the shit.
Also know that if anyone ever yells, "Damn you Diedrich!!!" when something gets broken or goes missing would also probably be a HotSpot reference.

Giant Bomb is great. They pioneered the quick look which is far better than any heavily edited video review. They gave us a giant wiki for writing about games. They have a great podcast that talks about those games. The only thing left for Giant Bomb to officially become the best website for videogames is to add sorting options for all the wiki data, and the ability to cross-sort the data.
