I feel like there is but I might be wrong. Just a game where you work your way up to big boss robots that you have to take out. Somebody should make that if not.

Outside of straight up mech games like Armored Core I can't think of anything that would be remotely close to that.

Borderlands 2? It plays nothing like Monster Hunter, but there's 4 peoples and you fight higher level robots as you level up and it's all about equipment.

But no, don't think there be a game like what you're looking for.

No but that sounds more interesting than Monster Hunter. Not a slight against MH but Robots > Monsters.

Yes, it's called Robot Hunter.

Enslaved by an army of rebellious super robots originally designed to help civilization avert a complete ecological cataclysm, mankind's only hope is Casshan, a legendary hero who wages a solitary war to defeat the NEOROIDS and restore the Earth to its rightful order. Ironically, Casshan's father is the same scientist who engineered the race of super androids now threatening to destroy all of mankind. On a crusade to clear the name of his father, Casshan must sacrifice his own humanity in order to attain the powers he needs to defeat mankind's powerful enemies. However, Casshan's power does not come without a price. Haunted by the memories of his murdered mother and forced to deal with a super robot that has absorbed and now manipulates the consciousness of his father, Casshan must put aside his own emotions and fight to preserve the survival of the human race.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Casshan was one of the characters included in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

@vinny_says: Casshern is pretty great, probably one of the things that Mega Man is inspired by (along with Astro Boy). He's got a robot dog named Friender, cause it's his friend.

Those guys look hella Saint Seiya.

Also kinda like a generic, toys selling, kid's show though that's to be expected.
