sure, we can drive cars, trucks, tanks, planes, spaceships and all sorts of stuff but has there ever been a video game that allowed you to drive a building? out of all the insane video game related stories that i have heard, never before have i ever heard someone say "i drove a building into that motherfucker."

maybe i'm overlooking something, but has there ever been a video game that has allowed you to defy any sort of logic, and has allowed you to pilot a building regardless if it had wheels or not?

thank you, Giant Bomb! i'm hoping that you can aid me in my quest.

The closest I know of is driving building on a truck in those trucking games. There has to be a game like this, someone must find it!

@AjayRaz:

In Dragon Quest V, you have to pull some time travel bullshit to fetch an orb to power the heavenly city of Zenithia. You can pilot it around, but it's more fun to unfurl your carpet and play Aladdin. I don't remember much of Breath of Fire II, though; I remember having a city you could customize, to some extent, and it does fly, at some point (it ends up landing on top of the final dungeon), but I don't remember if you can pilot the damn thing.

Yeah I guess most Final Fantasy games will involve driving/flying buildings as most people in here have mentioned. I suppose any game with a vehicle editor is eligible as well if you build a house shaped vehicle. Also, Minecraft if you got that one mod.

@Video_Game_King: can you crash it into stuff? that seems to be the only reason why i would want to pilot a building.

@XanderCrews: a castle underground? with someone has a 12 Oz Mouse avatar, i have no problems believing that.

@WhyBeAre: that sounds dope. can you like, steer around around and let the building fall out of the back?

@eroticfishcake: there's a minecraft mod that lets you drive buildings? sheesh. and i thought the plane mod was bananas.

Not exactly driving a building, but in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story you fight as giant Bowser and you're against some building that was in the water for some reason. As well as fighting a fucking train.

@TheSeductiveMoose: that video may have made my question obsolete. that is the greatest thing that i have ever seen.

@TehFedro: i appreciate it, but that doesn't seem to be what i'm looking for. i mean, in Red Faction: Guerrilla, the entire game is pretty much a battle against buildings.

@Video_Game_King: fair enough. i'll take it since that's all i kind of got.

Depending on the building, a skyscraper for example, the aerodynamics wouldn't work well for driving. The drag created all along the building's flat surface would always make you do a wheelie and then fall on your back. Even if you manage to get moving without that happening, when you brake, you would do the opposite, with everything tipping towards the front.

Believe me, I know a lot about building driving.

@Strife777: while i appreciate the logic, there's no room for logic here. we need to find the most logic-defying video game, as that must be the one that allows us to drive buildings.

@kingzetta: i have plenty of love for driving educational institutions, but i think we should scratch off Final Fantasy, as we've probably confirmed that you can drive buildings in that.

I dunno man, we defy logic quite a bit in GTA IV free mode.

I would also like to introduce a second challenge to everybody: the illusive truck gun. The best example we have is a collection of modded Halo 2 maps, one of which contained guns that would spawn weird vehicles. This broke the game very quickly.

In the Katamari series, your ball kind've drives like a building once it gets big enough. Bonus points awarded for rolling up buildings to get to that state.

I really hope that this driving buildings concept is more fully explored in 2012.

@SpaceRunaway: right, and can't your sword pretty much turn into a building?

@JasonR86: i appreciate the creativity (and i would be lying if i said i've never considered doing that before) but i don't think that will do.

@Ravenlight: finally. someone with some enthusiasm for this wonderful concept. i completely forgot about Katamari, and that seems to roll a bit more up the thing i've been looking for.

@WarlockEngineerMoreDakka: better than nothing! i'll take it. i mean, if you can't drive it, you must be it.
