The games industry.
The stakes are high.
There is less room for error.
Companies usually take the safe road going sandbox, action, fps, RTS, MMO..
Is there still room for innovation?
Less so I think.
Well, apart from Indie games, like Braid or Portal of course.

Companies can always build off the success of indie game ideas.

I havent seen any less innovation in games recently than before. In fact lately their seems to be plenty.

There is innovation in the industry but a lot of the big publishers seem to shy away from too much because they believe it too risky.

Its a money thing. Its sad that some of the big game companies are only focusing on money instead of making great games like they used to.

Look at EA. Eletronic Arts was awesome, then they became a money hungry piece of crap churning out the same garbage every year, and now they're slowly bringing out new IPs and giving their developers room to breath and make games they want to make.

Yes.
And all Innovation is not gold.

Lets ban the word innovation most people have no idea what it really means.
