Is this gonna be Dragon's Crown all over again?

So we shouldn't buy this game, that nobody besides people who want some kind of shallow nudity tease, where ever going to buy anyway. I'm not afraid to admit getting games like this when I was 12 and I remember feeling kinda cheated, you want HOT ACTION! and what you get is a bad tease combined with bad gameplay. Then you realize what you are really looking for is plain old porn. I apologize if this is actually a competent game, but I put this on the category of things using sex to sell you stuff you don't really want. Like people using boobs to trick you into watching their bad You Tube videos. HINT: You Tube doesn't allow nudity!

I really don't care what they do, people can do what they want, shit's creepy to me though and I know it's an awful character trait of mine but I cannot help but lose respect for people who buy shit like that. doesn't it say anything to you that almost everyone who isn't already DEEP into this freaky deaky niche has the first reaction of "WHAT THE FUCK JAPAN!?" stop taking people who aren't into Japanese cartoons opinions like they take away from your world of oversized breasts and exploding clothing, you're taking the whole thing way more seriously than the developers of the game did that's for sure.

I couldn't tell just by reading this thread or maybe "almost everyone" is just a closet pervert, but I do agree that you're just looking to be offended if you take trashy entertainment like this seriously.

My only "problem", if I have one, is that images like that one above exists in hundreds and hundreds of thousands of manga and other works (American, Japenese, whatever). Both men and women read/watch those, and have been, for decades. Is objectification usually bad? Yeeeup. But I think we can also have sexy men and women and have fun with it too. Maybe the wrong game to bring this up around, but ye, I'm out.

@freshbandito: I do not care about anime porn and this is far far far from Anime porn and even super niche in Japan. Just because you do not like something does not mean that it is pervert, creepy or whatever. Do I buy it? No but if other people want to buy it they should be free to do so. This is not "freaky shit" and if you think that you have no clue about "freaky shit"

This is not damaging to women or men in any way. It is just harmless "stupid" stuff people want to play and buy. So why not let them, move on try your social justice way in sections we really need these fights?

I love the irony that next to their article, for me, was an ad for Mike Chang's fitness youtube stuff with a picture of him with no shirt on.

I just meant that Nintendo is the same company that is stupid enough to censor a tiny bit of skin, because apparently North American kids can't handle it. I haven't played the game yet, but I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be 18 (also annoying... changing ages...) in the North American release and that their models are just chibi forms.

If you feel obligated to explain that your characters are over 18 to sell your game in the US then you probably made bad characters.

Dragon's Crown is a side scrolling action game represented by an artist who's style includes voluptuous women.

Senran Kagura is a collection of voluptuous women represented by a side scrolling action game.

Dragons' Crown has artistic and technical merit beyond titillation, whereas any technical merit Senran Kagura has is incidental to it being first and foremost a reason to "get jiggly with it". Not the best target for discussions about representing equality. But you've gotta start somewhere right?

I have no problem with a game like Senran Kagura Burst existing and people enjoying it, that's perfectly fine. But Dragon's Crown was an amazing game that was hindered by it's portayal of woman, which was just unfortunate. It's like if a game with great gameplay came out but the main characters all had their dicks hanging out the whole time, that'd be a bummer.

Say's you. Dragon's Crown's art style got people to talk about the game and that's a big win. I didn't find the art style to be a problem at all, I thought it was actually kind of great in a really dumb sort of way. I have no problem with games featuring giant ripped dude-bro's, nor do I have a problem with games featuring girls with huge boobs. Who cares!? Get over it already!

It didn't bother me that much and I'm not at all offended by it. I just loved Dragon's Crown so much but its just embarrassing to try and show anyone I know. I think it could have got a lot more POSITIVE attention if it was little more classy. That's all I'm saying.

At least it wasn't boring looking. I showed my wife and she laughed pretty heartily. That's a good reaction in my book!

I'm in this camp. And @horseman6, it did in fact hinder the enjoyment of the game for a lot of people, just because you weren't one of them does not mean it didn't happen.

Rust (well I can't speak to the quality of the game, but everyone has their dicks out all the time). Can you imagine the utter shitstorm that game would garner if it was naked women instead of men?

I guess the true debate is whether Japan should be less overtly sexualising their media or should western culture be more embracing of it. I'm fine either way really. I guess western culture has no problem with filling tv shows and movies with boobs, but animated boobs that's just wrong. I just find this debate fascinating.

People did raise concerns about it, and by default now, naked characters are wearing pants in Rust. (though you can opt into not having the pants)

People are blowing shit out of proportion, there's nothing wrong with sexy characters with exaggerated features.

@onomatopoeia: I thought the sexiness of Bayonetta was well done, in fact a perfect example of how to do it. I think there just may be a very specific line that's taking it too far, which Dragon's Crown crossed into awkward.

It was exaggerated like all character design in the game, I don't think it was bad and it certainly wasn't awkward.
