Is this the end for the PS2?

I luv my PS2, theres been so many great games over the years, Katamari, god of war, persona . . . anyway do you think there won't be anymore big AAA games for PS2? Probably, but even some AA games, maybe from Atlus?

I dunno, it seems like the ps2 has become the console for the developers who say f*** the graphics. Err, what I mean is that I think there still is a game for games like persona and bad movie-licensed games. I dont think we will see any "major" releases anymore though.

The playstation2 is now exclusively for Shin Megami Tensei games, and candy-licensed kart-racers.

The greatest console of all time has earnt its retirement now me thinks.

Yeah, I think it's time that the PS2 hangs up its jacket, puts the gun back in the cabinet, and takes a long needed rest in a rocking chair.

PS2 had lasted (and is still hanging on) for a very long time.So many great titles, particularly having GTA out first exclusive on it probably contributed to its success.

I love the PS2 to this day, and still think it's the best console that I have ever owned. But I agree, it's been going strong for 9 years now, and I think it's time has come.

The install base is so goddamned huge that it would honestly surprise me quite a lot if it doesnt continue to see games for quite some time. Even if most of those will be ports from the Wii, done simply because a lot of engines can do it in close to a single click, and publishers no longer have to pay sony a license fee to publish a game for the PS2.

I hope it's the end of the line, it may become boring if it continues on much longer.

While developers will no doubt stop developing for the PS2 over the next year or two, I don't think we can genuinely call it "the end". The PS2 is going to go down in gaming history, much like the SNES. It simply has too much of a legacy for it not to.

I don't think I phrased that well, I guess what I mean is that I'd rather see developers putting effort into games for the current  generation, than making quick games for the last generation.

Well Wii games usually have PS2 ports so as long as the Wii is around we can imagine some sort of game coming out for the system.

Ya the PS2 has run its long and very successful course.

It has one more year in it before it takes a well-deserved nap. But as far as Triple-A titles go? I suspect it's had its fill already.

Unless Atlus do something really stupid like put Persona 5 on it.
